REVOLUTIONARY OPTOMA MOVIETIME PROJECTOR

by booley , Sep 15 '05
Pros: Handsome space age design as well as top functionality.
Cons: That it wasn't invented sooner and that it isn't in stores yet.
DLP digital video projector with built in DVD player and its own stereo speakers and amp. Just plug in, point toward a wall and presto...instant high quality home theater. We have had several days to try out the exciting new Optoma Movietime Video ...

Outstanding machine - Highly recommend

by ju87 , Nov 28 '05
Pros: One unit that does everything. Great picture at an affordable price.
Cons: So far none.
I have had the optoma DV10 for just about a week and I have just finished watching my third movie. So far, the DV10 is everything I had hoped it would be. The picture is sharp and clear and the sound is very good considering the size of the two small ...

Overall - a good projector

by cooter22mp , Dec 28 '05
Pros: Great starter system, great for part-time theater rooms, great for taking to friend/relative's homes.
Cons: If I could turn off the speakers, it would be perfect.
I bought this projector knowingly sacrificing some of the picture quality (compared to higher resolution projectors) for the all-in-one plug-and-play type feature. Surprisingly, the picture turned out to be quite good. Even on a beige wall (prior to ...

A Great Toy

by storm2000 , Sep 23 '05
Pros: The most impressive picture I've seen. Super easy to set up. All in one.
Cons: The audio could use a little more power. People making shadow puppets.
I got my DV10 about three weeks ago. This is mostly for use while RVing. The ease of setting it up is about as cool as it gets. I am currently using a 36x48 Aaron Bros. white, framed, canvas (with the plastic still on it)to view the movies. I plan on ...

This thing is a joke...
by shawnsamac ,Aug 15 '05
Pros: Decent picture (when it works.)
Cons: Died after two days.
I bought this projector about a week ago. Two days into using it, the "lamp indicator light" comes on and the projector shuts off. It'll come back on a few minutes later...only to die again. I contacted Optoma about this situation and was informed that I need to ship the entire unit back to them at MY COST in order to receive a replacement lamp. That means I have to wait for it to get there, wait for them to replace the lamp, wait for it to arrive back. After spending $1500 on this thing I think I should receive a bit better service.

Don't think you'll be spared the same treatment, either. Even if you receive one without a faulty lamp...you'll need to replace the lamp eventually. You can't simply buy the part and replace it. You'll have to ship it back in for replacement too. I definitely regret my purchase.

Love My Optoma Movie Projector
by drquesnel ,Feb 15 '06
Pros: Absolutely phenomenal picture, great detail, easy to use.
Cons: $349 Replacement bulb. Only 1 adjustable "foot" underneath to adjust height.
I've been using my Optoma DV10 Movietime Projector for almost a month now and I absolutely love it. It's easy to use, user friendly, the remote works from everywhere in the room. I've got it hooked up to Comcast HD Cable and it's projecting a 124" diagonal screen (60"x106")and it's crystal clear!

Terrific System at an inexpensive price
by mrcmd ,May 12 '06
Pros: High quality image. Highly portable.
Cons: Forget about a mounting it to the ceiling.
Great system. I purchased the system from Costco and it came bundled with the GreyWolf screen. Combined, the projector and screen produce an incredibly sharp image even at 90+ inches. I highly recommend the product to anyone shopping for a very user friendly, high-quality projector. Great value for the money. For the guy who said that he couldn't turn off the sound on the projector, i would suggest simply lowering the volume to zero using the remote. That's what I've done and I get crystal clear 5.1 surround using the optical output without any sound at all coming from the speakers on the unit.

Great image; smelly; bulb outrageously overpriced
by martinadams ,Oct 16 '05
Pros: Great image, easy to use out of the box, decent bag, good remote.
Cons: Smelly/toxic vented air (like hot plastic), must-replace bulb $349 is a ripoff.
Pop in a DVD, it starts automatically, the image is stunning on a white wall 10 feet wide. The remote has every option and button, aim it at the SCREEN, the projector has IR sensors front and back. Place it on the floor and the image is projected UP to the screen, perfectly rectangular.
Downside: The vents blast out (quietly) hot air from cooling the bulb, and this air smells like melted plastic. Some say the 'new bulb' smell goes away - mine didn't after a week of asphyxia, I returned it for a refund. The bulb, which you WILL have to replace after x number of hours, costs $349, ouch. The projector will refuse to run when that fixed quota is reached - right in the middle of your movie party. Optoma could treat its customers better by selling the bulb for a reasonable price, instead of bleeding us for a quarter the cost of the projector. I'll wait for a more ethical company to make something better. $349 for a bulb? Give me a break.
