Pros: Superior adhesion, fast drying, suppresses stains and odors.
Cons: Needs know-how, proper equipment and developed skill.

Summary: I am a professional contractor. Here is what you need to know. Bin is an alcohol-based primer, which means it out-gases significantly when drying and requires very specific clean up. However, Bin adheres to nearly any previous coating with little ... read more

Pros: Sticks like glue, covers well w/roller, goes long way
Cons: Paintbrushes near useless, Ammonia cleanup, can't be used over water(latex).

Summary: Bought a house, with cardboard brown ceiling from nicotine stains. Used Zinsser 1-2-3 (I'll get to B-I-N) to cover it up, it took 5 coats of Zinsser 1-2-3 before it was non-existent! I probably should've used B-I-N because nicotine has a very easy ... read more

Pros: Dries fast & goes a long way. Conceals knots in wood. Great for MDF.
Cons: It's very thin; spatters and drips are unavoidable.

Summary: I purchased this initially because I read that MDF must not be primed with a water based product. Zinsser Shellac based primer was recommended. I was a bit sticker shocked. One gallon was over $40.00! However, as I began to apply it, it became clear that ... read more

Pros: Stain blocking, deep sealing, super sandable
Cons: Bad smell?? I cant smell anything...

Summary: All these reviews are correct, its a great product. But nobody seems to mention how wonderfully sandable it is. It sands down like laquer to a glass finish if you want. It soaks more deeply into the wood than latex primers. Have you ever attempted to ... read more

Pros: Incredibly smooth finish; the primer becomes one with the existing surface
Cons: a little pricey, but worth it
