This is my first PDA,...
by milo1_dt3000 ,Dec 20 '02
This is my first PDA, have had it for about a month now. The ease of use of this product, from creating Word and Excel files to HotSync to beaming is just effortless. It adapted so well to my lifestyle that I now wonder how I functioned without it! The Pros are color display, expandability [I have a 32MB card in mine and it works like a charm ($30)], lightweight and software package. Speaking of software package, I've added web pages like Golf Digest, the Weather Channel and CNN. Granted, the news is as recent as the last sync, but this is very cool.
I would like improved the battery life when using the backlight in well lighted areas and the to M130 come with a standard 32MB internal memory card. Other than that, it's a great tool that will assist you when you need it.
Thinking of picking up a PDA? Do yourself a favor and consider this unit. For $199 your information will be at your fingertips with a dash of color to spare. Enjoy!

This is my first handheld, but I do love my lightweight equipment. My Palm m130 fits in with my laptop, miniprinter and digital camera quite well, and has made university life for me MUCH MUCH more organized!!

by globaltraveler_dt3000 ,Jan 28 '03
The color display is a valuable addition to the Palm's capabilities. Information is easier to read and note with the new display.
However, I have found it necessary to frequently reset the device, requiring it be resynchronized with the desktop.
It also contains no warning that it is a single voltage device, not suitable for international usage without a travel charger. Further, the only travel charger I have been able to locate is for an auto charger, not convenient if you are at a conference or seminar and did not rent a car.
Poor battery life is another issue with the device.
Toshiba and Ipaq's are dual voltage devices capable of international use, along with additional memory.

I'm not great with computers....
by new.at_.palms_dt3000 ,Mar 18 '03
I'm not great with computers. My husband bought it for me to replace my pocket bible (Bookman brand). I take it everywhere. I can read in the dark when my husband's sleeping. I even use it as a night light. It turns off after three minutes of inactivity (ZZZ), unlike my flashlights. I use it as a watch, alarm clock, calculator, organizer, and I have downloaded tools that help me on my job. I can play games while sitting in doctor's offices etc. It fits well in my back pocket. I put all my downloads on my expansion card so if it crashes (only three times), I don't have to wait till I can hotsinc. The battery gets me thru the day, but needs charging every night if used. I know I'm not using it to its full capability, and was disappointed with the lack of information provided by the company. The palm is very easy to use, even for a beginner.

by pdgray_dt3000 ,Nov 26 '02
I brought this unit when my trusty IIIxe died. I love this device, because the color is great, it's small enough, and lot's of free software came in the box which was very useful to me. I just wish it came with more memory, but the good part about that is, it's expandable (although I haven't tried that yet). Also, it synchs FAST, and works GREAT with outlook.

I am absolutely ecstatic about my m130. it cost about 1/2 of the upperend models but it can do just about everything I could ask for. So far I have had no problems with it, except initially trying to find it somewhere that had it in stock! The m130 has performed above and beyond my expectations, the color screen is wonderful, and I do not think that I could be happier with any other model in the same price range.

This is my first PDA....
by abraham_dt3000 ,Mar 14 '03
This is my first PDA. And has gotten me scared of using Palm. According to the person I bought, this is the WORST palm ever released. I got my unit in November 30, 2002. On Dec 15, 2002, it auto-erased. I thought my kid brother pressed the reset button. Then after two weeks, another auto erase. The entire data stored just vanished. After the third month, it auto erased again. Then I bought a Sony Clie. It has worked well ever since.

Great model! Between the great expansions and standard capabilities I'm a happy camper. this tool did way more than i ever expected. The vivid with the back light on is extremely crisp!I've had people come up to me and ask for places to get it. It is very durable and strong. Very easy to use. it has standard featurs galor! If your looking for a palm, student or worker, this is a great tool to get organized. Overall, a great tool for any one of any age.

I broke my IIIxe and was forced to find a replacement. The M130 has been quite an upgrade for me. The color display is outstanding as are the alerting sounds. It is quick to synchronize and equally quick in responding to commands when writing on the screen. A great replacement!

by henry_dt3001 ,Nov 23 '02
The overall feel and display are cool. I like the sleek design and shape of the unit. It's light weight and backlight display are nice too. The price is a little steep, but with the $50 rebate going on right now, it's a steel. However, the screen becomes a bit touchy when trying to use the graffiti aspect to type in letters. For example, when trying to shift for a capital letter the system goes into punctuation shift mode.

This is an impressive product. The price is just right. The accessories are great and offer a HUGE variety to meet anyone's taste. It is a TOUGH and sturdy little guy!
Drawback is the smaller screen, but you get used to it!

I did quite a bit of research when buying a palm and am very happy with this purchase. Easy to use, fully adaptable, and a good price for what you get. I love the "documents to go" feature and would definatly recommend this product to a friend

I noticed a lot...
by hillbilly_dt3000 ,Jan 15 '03
I noticed a lot of other users complaining of lack of memory. Just what is it you need to put in this unit? It has everything and more. You are just wasting your time if you need more than 32MB. Why do I seem to recall thinking I was cutting edge in the late 90's, when I had a handheld with 1 MB. How times have changed. This is a great handheld for practical use. Just be careful to buy LCD screen protectors to avoid scratching the screen. A small scratch can slow down grafitti and/or require you to make a lot of corrections. What you save in retail costs, you will spend on additional accesories i.e. carry case, screen protectors, additional cards etc. Hopefully, Palm will perfect Graffitti that one day, we can return to proper use of the English language. Graffitti can be sluggish and difficult at times, causing neck/head aches and wrist discomfort. But, all in all, a great tool and beats the heck out of the big written day timers.

Having the color display makes it a lot easier to read the unit. It has all the features I need plus works well with Outlook.
