There are several parks, wildlife refuges and other public lands in this region. Most have better scenery, easier access and far better visitor facilities than Texas Point.

Chincoteague National Refuge is a peaceful area with extraordinary bird watching and other wildlife possibilities. Unfortunately we did not see any of the noted Chincoteague ponies.
