  • Epson 1250: Great for slides and negatives!

    Dec 10 '01
Pros: Sufficient resolution and colour depth for negatives and slides, great value
Cons: Poorly written software, sluggish scanning.

Summary: It almost seems as if the 35mm attachment for this scanner was an after-thought, and after reading several reviews about non-dedicated slide/negative scanners I admit that I was hesitant in purchasing the Epson Perfection 1250 Photo. However, after ... read more

  • Great scanner (update)

    Feb 18 '02
Pros: Inexpensive, fast, high resolution, accurate colors.
Cons: Software has a few bugs, scanner produces streak from reflection down one side.

Summary: I have now run several hundred photos and documents through my scanner. To my dismay, a persistent vertical streak is being produced down the right hand side of most photos. The streak coincides nicely with the chrome guide bar that is inside the scanner ... read more

  • Good scans if you can put up with the glitches

    Jan 25 '02
    Pros: Price, good scans
    Cons: Software

Summary: I returned this scanner after using it for several days. The image quality was quite good, but the software is awful. Installation required me to install about 250 megs of software that I would never use {phote editing, album management etc} and ... read more

  • When cheap and rugged wins

    Jan 24 '02
    Pros: inexpensive, rugged
Cons: poor twain module, software is clunky

Summary: Wanted a fairly durable and easy-to-use scanner for home use; lots of photos that need to get into a digital format. My job exposes me to medical images, and I have used a number of scanners - inexpensive up to the best there are. A 1240 was in an ... read more

  • The Webmaster

    Jan 08 '02
    Pros: Best scan around
Cons: Software & minor Windows XP problems

Summary: If you are scanning to attach for e-mails, the web, or Ebay and Yahoo auctions then this is the scanner to use. It is not the fastest, and sometimes you either have to pull out and reconnect the USB connection or restart the system because of freezing or ... read more

Pros: Ease of use, good color reproduction, high resolution, its fast too.
Cons: Some software bugs, streaking from light reflected from within the scanner.

Summary: This machine produces incredibly sharp scans at a fairly quick pace. It is quiet in operation and interfaces beautifully with my Epson photo printer. When I first got the scanner I was able to quickly produce astounding copies of 8x10 photographs onto ... read more
