Pros: Great text quality, very fast, inexpensive, networking capable! Cons: Consumes lots of power when printing, manual feeding is cumbersome, feels light and cheap.
First of all, I'm pretty surprised that I'm the first one to review this printer on epinions. It seems to be a very popular printer. I've always wanted a laser printer for printing out text documents, and since our inkjet was dying, my research led ...

Pros: Fast, Network Ready using 3 interfaces, quality copy, nice appearance, accessories for wireless. Cons: Toner and Drum cartridges are expensive, but that's the norm today.
We purchased our Brother HL-2070N in July 2007 from Staples. The retail price was $199, but I had a $20 coupon, so paid $179. I have always had laser printers, as an alternative to a color printer, because I use my printer more for text ...

Pros: Great looking output, fast, inexpensive, and cheap to operate. Cons: None, zilch, zero.
I've been using the Brother HL-2070N laser printer for about a year now, and it's a real workhorse. It's able to print about twenty pages per minute, and it's cheap to operate. I use it with both my Apple MacBook and Windows XP computer and the output ...

Pros: Compact, reliable, good price Cons: Not wireless (Hint to Brother: You could make some good inroads here); curved paper path
Reliable I got this for small print efforts (a few pages per job, no more than a few jobs per day), and have never had a problem. Installation on my home network was simple, and installation on client machines was easy. I'm also ...

PQ & setup ok, but extremely noisy
by donbott ,Aug 17 '07
Pros: Excellent speed at low price. Cons: Ridiculously noisy fan stays on way too long after each job.
I bought this printer for light-duty personal office work. The ~$70 price for a refurbished 2070 unit was difficult to beat, and since I was extremely happy with my older Brother 1070 at home, I purchased this unit.
Setup was no problem, and PQ/operation has been good through the approximately 1k prints I've made so far. Brother shipping a 1500-print starter cartridge is annoying, but I knew that when I bought it.
By far the biggest negative I see for the machine is its noise. Even with Powersave (time to sleep) set to its minimum time of 1 minute, the cooling fan stays on for 15 minutes and is ridiculously loud for a personal printer. If I had known how noisy this machine was, I would not have purchased it.
A secondary negative is the high levels of curl and sheet distortion I get occasionally. The lead-edge corners of some sheets can easily be 1.5" out-of-plane. Since I rarely print big jobs or those requiring high PQ, this doesn't bother me a great deal.

Great quality laser for the price
by misterjbeing ,Apr 22 '08
Pros: Price, Speed, Network capable, Small footprint, dependable. Great output quality, linux driver support Cons: Must manually load legal paper. Manual feed can sometimes cause crooked output.
Prints every time in little time. I've had only one jam after printing 20 thousand pages. And it jammed only because someone put books on top of the printer, blocking the output. Very fast. Toner cartridges aren't cheap, but when you compare it to ink-jet, there are definitely savings. Lower cost cartridges can be found if you shop around. Cartridge/drum assembly can be a little difficult to remove occasionally. All-in-all, I would definitely buy another if needed.

Awesome Laser for the Money
by azchile ,Dec 08 '07
Pros: Consumables, quality, cost, styling, and long life. Cons: I have not found any
This is our second laser printer from Brother. The other was an affordable laser, the HL1440. I am still using it without a hitch. This new HL2070N is sleek looking and very fast. The copy quality is excellent. OEM consumables are very affordable and aftermarket refills are competitive in price. The set up is very easy. You will be pleased!
