I signed up for Rhapsody in July, hoping to expand my mp3 collection. The main advice I have if you are planning to use Rhapsody is: don't do it! First of all, yes you have access to many songs, but be aware that you pay $15 a month, and this only ...

Rhapsody is an excellent music service, with a few minor flaws that don't bring it down too much. It's got a very good selection of music, great sound quality, and it does not upload or download, but streams. The new 3.0 version of Rhapsody brings ...

If you love music, are inspired by it, intrigued by it, or want to learn more, Rhapsody is a great place to start. Admittedly, spending money right off the bat might not be the wisest thing to do for someone who isn't already enthused about music, but it ...

I purchased a Sansa MP3 player which comes with free introductory Rhapsody service. Easy to open the account and upload music. My problem is how hard their "customer service" sucks. When you call the 800 number, you will ALWAYS get someone who only ...

Rhapsody Digital Music Online Service is SO Horrible!!! I had such a bad experience with it! First I couldn't download the Rhapsody player on my computer (I have a newer computer and Windows XP). I tried and re-tried, then I contacted technical ...

I want to download songs and don't have the inclination to use my computer as a jukebox. Using my son's iTunes was a breeze. The software downloaded easily and clicking on a song to preview it brought music instantly. Hit the Download button and within ...

This is mainly a problem with cancellation. The Rhapsody service didn't work well on my MAC -- the sound in the browser window kept stalling or freezing. I found it tricky to figure out how to cancel. Difficult to find on the website, you must phone, I ...

Rhapsody has the best customer service of ANY company that I've ever dealt with. I've been with them since they started, and have canceled twice due to being unemployed. Both times they gave me a free month of service - the first time I was able to get ...

201 minutes on hold - my "customer service" experience - only to get cut off. That's 3 hours, 21 minutes out of my life waiting for someone to answer my question and then, got cut off by the system! Called back again and... same thing. Being on hold ...

Understand before you buy
by ericg5331 ,Apr 06 '04
It's important that you understand how the Listen Rhapsody music service works. For $10 / month you get unlimited *streaming* music. This means that you are allowed to listen to your music on one computer at a time only. You may not burn any music onto a CD unless it has the burn icon next to it AND you pay the additional .79cents per track. At this time, you cannot transfer music to a MP3 player unless you burn the track, then rip it back to your computer in MP3 format.

Superior Value makes Itunes 99 cents and song seem expensive.
by monk3yle3t ,Feb 17 '08
I purchased an Mp3 player for my girlfriend, and couldn't find a way short of illegal downloads to get her music without going broke. When I finally broke down and purchased the Rhapsody TO GO service I was skeptical, but the 14 day free trial convinced me. I'm paying 15 bucks a month for 40,000 + Albums, 4 million songs........every artist we both loved and UNLIMITED TRANSFERS TO MY MP3 player. Only thing this is missing is a Video Download service, and they would be providing my families Video entertainment as well. This service is a superior value......and is it really worth buying digital music, like on ITUNES that is intangible and My unlimited Transfers for 15 a month.......and pretty much all the same music. On top of that I pay ten percent less than Itunes when I do download.

Listen.com's Rhapsody is hands down the best pay/month, pay/song service on the planet!
by tberte ,Nov 10 '03
Listen.com's Rhapsody, which I discovred via the easily the greatest store in all of the land...Best Buy, is hands down the best pay/month, pay/song service on the planet. I've heard Napster come out of the gate very strong, but I have no reason to switch. Rhapsody has it's flaws, but for a legal, speedy, reliable digital music service, Rhapsody is the way to go.
-Pros
Reliable, High Quality Music, 400,000+ songs, Free Software, Free Updates. Only $10/month and 79 cents per song for CD burning.
-Cons
As of right now, some music is unavailable, but the future could be different when negotiations come down. Realistically must have a high speed internet connection and must have an internet connection play music.

Either unethical or profoundly incompetent business practices
by caveat999 ,Apr 07 '09
I just cancelled a credit card to get rid of my RealArcade and Superpass subscriptions. I somehow ended up signed up for them when I signed up for Rhapsody, and every time I called to cancel, was told that they couldn't find the account. They sure could find it when it came time to bill me, though.
I liked the music service fine. The software is a little clunky, and Real has a nasty way of pretending to have rights to things they don't, but I would still be subscribing if it weren't for RealArcade and Superpass. However, it is not tolerable that I be made to pay for things I didn't order and can't cancel.

Proprietary Technology - Bad Idea
by krisludington ,Oct 16 '04
Couldn't figure out what I was getting without signing up. The sign up process tried to force software down my throat, so I bailed. Turns out you have to call in to cancel. Only then did I learn that it's a completely proprietary technology. You have to use their software to listen to it. It's not MP3. Forget it.

Great sound, great selection!! Lots of new music to explore!!
by springhill19 ,Aug 21 '04
Recently compared this service to Napster and MusicMatch. I have a very keen ear and I can tell you that Napster is noticeably lower quality, and MusicMatch is close, but Rhapsody's streaming audio is the best quality of the three.
I have been very happy with the catalog, and am really enjoying having unlimited access to thousands of tunes. The player is very easy to use and provides lots of helpful information. One of the nice features is that you can see each artist's complete discography - even if they are not all in the Rhapsody catalog.
Features like the genre browser, most popular artist list, and artist sampler really help you discover new music. The search tool is great too. Now, when I hear of a new band I just look them up, learn all about them and listen to their sampler - or complete albums! Its great! I think I will keep this service!
