Great DSL but tedious customer service

by aznp17 , Dec 25 '06
Pros: Free modem after rebate and a cheap, fast DSL connection.
Cons: -The customer service was a waste of time
So I ordered my DSL service through Best Buy website after being recommended from a friend. (If you are going to get DSL from SBC, order it from Circuit City or Best Buy to get a gift card too) Basically, the deal was that the modem will be free ...

by jgh1952 , Nov 30 '06
Pros: Aren't any...you have to GET service to have pros !!!
Cons: Can't get service ....that IS the con !!
Now that sbc and att have merged, they appear to be TWICE as incompetent and arrogant about correcting mistakes. All we did was change apartments in the same complex...and they can't seem to manage to move our service without screwing up over and over ...

Great bang for the buck

by norsoulnet , Oct 31 '06
Pros: Great Price/Performance
Cons: More downtime than Cable Internet
I downloaded at a rock solid consistent 150 Kb/s. Actual download speeds vary according to how far from their DSL stations your are located. The farther out you are the farther from advertised speed you will be. There really is no way to know how fast ...

by basilisk06 , Jan 20 '06
Pros: Phone service is GREAT & everything is on one bill!
Cons: Dish Network is contracted out...SBC is a middle-man. DSL help isn't helpful with problems!
We have had SBC phone service for almost 3 years and have never had any problems. We have only lost service a couple of time but it was remedied quite fast. We have never had problems with all our options like Caller ID, Call Waiting, Caller ID Waiting ...

Pros: none, that I can see
Cons: TERRIBLE customer service, weird policies, hidden fees, dishonest customer service reps

Good Deal: SBC Yahoo DSL for $14.95 (or 16.99)/mo

by aloofyouth , Nov 08 '05
Pros: Cheap, fast, and gets a bad rap.
Cons: Up front costs, 1-year contract. Check sbc.yahoo.com for availability in your area.
I was surprised to see the degree of venom that people spat out at SBC. Sure, the company had hiccups, but it's not bad if you live in a major metropolitan area. I think maybe people don't write reviews of services as often when the services work, but ...

NO!!! Use a CLEC like sonic or dslextreme or speakeasy instead.

by elvey , Oct 15 '05
Pros: The service of this Organized Crime Syndicate works when their SMTP server isn't blacklisted.
Cons: SBC supports spammers, and lies. Billing fraud is rampant, facilitated by co-opting state PUCs.
My connection has been VERY flaky lately, and SBC support was poor. The support folks I spoke with when I called can't do anything but follow a fixed script; giving them information about the symptoms I was seeing was useless; they refused to pay any ...
