Think twice before buying Samsung Blue Ray......
by flyfishtex ,Dec 25 '07
Pros: Nice to look at; blue lights are cool Cons: Won't play Blue Ray discs; check the blogs and buyer beware.
I purchased the Samsung Blue Ray PD1000, and it plays regular DVDs fine; but will not play all Blue Ray discs (check the blogs). Even with the firmware "fix", problems remain. As a matter of fact, now it will not even play any Blue Ray discs. Samsung service has been less than helpful. But it is easy to see Samsung upper management is looking the other way.
The 3rd level personnel got involved in this and still could not fix the problem. And this is not unique to my unit; it is widespread.
I understand newer technology, but this unit is not 6 months old. Suprised a state district attorney hasn't jumped on this and filed a class action. Stay tuned....
