Pros: Amazing true story, told with fiction's tools. Cons: None.
Schindler's List, Thomas Keneally's 1980 non-fiction "novel" about Oskar Schindler's transformation from a bon vivant German (actually, Sudeten German, born in what is now part of the Czech Republic) war profiteer to savior of over 1,000 Jews during ...
Pros: Well researched and vivid Cons: The book has a tendancy to wander into a ramble or slightly incoherent themes
Its a scary thought, but I actually saw the movie of this first, and then picked up the book a few years later. Needless to say I certainly shed a tear during the movie, but the book that started it all seemed a dissapointment.

Pros: Intimate portrait of an ordinary man performing extraordinary acts of humanity Cons: Man's capacity for inhumanity
Herr Oskar Schindler, as author Thomas Keneally was quick to note, was an unlikely hero. Handsome and charming, Schindler's ambitions focused on acquiring wealth and achieving personal gratification. In any age that had remotely resembled ...
Pros: Well written history Cons: Disturbing to your sleep and conscience.
Do you find history boring, dull and just not your "cup of tea"? I would recommend that you put down that romance novel and pick up Schindler's List instead. Here is all the action, terror, horror and yes, even love, that you could care...
Pros: Keneally's excellent research provides a chilling tale of torture and murder slightly obscure by the ultimate act of mercy. Cons: The book can be hard to follow at times.
Thomas Keneally's "Schindler's List" is of course the inspiration for the breathtakingly disturbing Stephen Spielberg film of the same name. This book was actually published some time ago and sat largely unnoticed by the populous as Speilberg...
A book to stun your mind. If you think you know about the Holocaust, think again and read this book. This book is not for the faint-hearted, and certainly shocks the reader. But it is also touching and throws light on some of the events which transpired...
Pros: excellent word-choice and crafting Cons: can be a bit hard to follow at times
Like most people, I'd heard quite a bit about the Holocaust...but after reading Schindler's List, I feel like I know so much more about some of the complexities and relationships that existed during those turbulent times.
Great, though lots of names to remember by asulca593 ,Feb 27 '06
Pros: Succinct, interesting, and very powerful Cons: Lots of characters (hard to follow sometimes, but does not detract from the overall story)
It took me a good 2-3 months to read this book since I am kept busy a lot. This novel is a wonderful book of courage, defiance of absolute power, and self-sacrifice that is quite possibly one of the greatest survivor stories of the Holocaust. I had already seen the movie in 1993 in the theater. The movie is great, so it was somewhat easier for me to follow since I already knew the general plot. To someone new to it, it might become overwhelming since there are so many characters and lots of long German names and titles to keep up with. Nevertheless, it was a great read and I would highly recommend it.
