Pros: East to use, can be trimmed, inexpensive. Cons: Not the least bit absorbent, can retain food smells.
When it comes to cleaning, I am a woman possessed. My kitchen is, according to Chris, operating room clean but that kind of clean doesnt just happen, it takes a lot of work and the right kind of products to get the job ...

Pros: These are a must have. Cons: They don't like high temperatures.
Why in the world would I buy Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pads? Could it be that I don't want to spend any more time in the kitchen then I have to? Description These pads are 6.0 in. x 3.8 in. in measurements. They are green with ...

Pros: Flexible, tough little scouring pad. Cons: None
Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pads are a must have in the kitchen. I neve liked the old wire wool or Brillo pads, I always ended up getting poked with the fibers. These wonderful green pads are stiff enough to give a good scrubbing but are made of ...

Pros: works on almost any kind of surface Cons: doesn't work on every surface
While we’re on the subject of cleaning and washing and all the things that go with them, I guess now is a good time to mention an old stand-by that has never failed – not once in all the years I’ve used it. Yes, I’ve sung the praises of ...

Pros: effective scrubbing, inexpensive, easy to find Cons: not absorbent
I am not exactly the world's best cook. Not even close. While most of the dinners I make aren't quite disasters, the pots and pans used to make them usually are. Baked on tomato paste, pasta stuck to the bottom of a pot and partially burned, yes I ...

Brite and shiny!
by somoteltbe ,Jul 01 '05
Pros: Works well and effectively. Cons: Wears out a bit quickly.A few cleanings are great.
I love these little scrubby things! When I compared them to other scrubber pads the others paled in comparison.I bought cheaper AND more expensive scrubbers and these Scotch Brites are the best!
I used them to clean my bathroom sink and bathtub, with assistance from a cleaner of course!I didn't need to rescrub, work myself to death or worry about scratching up my sink and tub!

A Must Have!
by shaum ,Aug 08 '05
Pros: GREAT PRODUCT AND GREAT PRICE! Cons: NONE!
I am a professional painter and I never begin a job without first checking that I have these little green pads in my tool bag. I used to have them on my cleaning tray when I owned and operated a cleaning business, and now I use them on the job for paint brush clean ups. There is nothing that surpasses them in actually cleaning the bristles of the brushes and also the handles of the brushes. I use expensive brushes and if I clean the brushes each time with these pads, the life of the brush is MUCH extended. They are great for getting small spots of paint up off ceramic tile and vinyl floor. Here is another testimony: Just last week, my husband was on a job with me. He is a builder. He needed something to clean up his drywall mud pan and grabbed one of my scotch brites. He remarked how great a job they did and said, "I am stealing one of these!" I now have a supply of them for the construction site.

FYI: Scotch-Brite pads are highly abrasive
by two_fishes ,Oct 05 '05
Pros: Clean bare metal very well. Cons: Scratches any surface except diamond. Instructions don't say to avoid anything but bare metal.
Scotch-Brite pads are highly abrasive because they are nylon fibers bonded to abrasives. Specifically, they contain Aluminum Oxide or Silicon Carbide, depending on the grade of pad. Both materials will scratch hardened steel or porcelain because they are harder than hardened steel or porcelain. Needless to say, they will scratch pretty much anything in your house.
3M says NOT to use this pad on dishes, non-stick cookware, counter tops, tubs, sinks and shower areas.
Ever wonder why the company says to use them only on old metal surfaces? Because they would be sued if they didn't make at minimum an insincere attempt to instruct consumers as to proper use.
The fact is, Scotch-Brite pads clean superbly because they scratch away all the dirt and the top surface of the material you are cleaning. Which, of course, ruins your tub, dishes, glasses, counter tops, sinks and shower areas. Not to mention, the finish on your pans. Or your refrigerator.
I'd recommend them for cleaning burnt on sugar from stainless steel pans, but they will mark the surface. You'll lose a "brushed" finish if you use them on stainless. They also work well for sanding away rust from metal.
