  • Sega Dreamcast: Tales of the Lost 128-bit Console

    Jun 06 '05
Pros: good collection of games, ahead of its time, decent features
Cons: dated hardware, controller, small sized VMU, lack of 3rd party support, it's dead

Summary: So I finally decided to see what all the hype is surrounding the Dreamcast. While this sucker was in its prime, I was in college playing S tarcraft, Shadow Warrior, Half Life, and other great computer games I missed in ... read more

  • Life could be a Dream with the Dreamcast.

    Feb 21 '08
Pros: You can run backups and emulators on the system without modding it.
Cons: online functions gone no more games being made. harder to find memcards

Summary: It is ironic that the same thing that will probably keep this system alive for years to come also killed this system before its time. You can play backups, homebrew operating systems, and emulators on this machine without "modding" it. This is great for ... read more

  • the dreamcast, what a dream!

    Feb 14 '08
Pros: fun games, years of fun.
    Cons: No more games.

Summary: If you are thinking of picking up a old system for cheap. This is the one to get. It had great games. Like one of the best fighting games of all time Power stone1&2. The best sonic game (I think) sonic adventure 1. Shenmue, and many, many more. so read ... read more

  • The world greatest "flop"

    Dec 30 '07
Pros: Great Graphics, Huge Library of games, Homebrew
Cons: Controller if you consider it a con

Summary: Transport yourself back in time to 1999, it was a simpler time in video games. For several years Sony had been dominating the video game market with the Playstation, but it was beginning to show its age as was the Nintendo 64. People were ready for a ... read more

  • Buy the last SEGA console!

    Feb 12 '06
Pros: Capable of out doing most consoles still today. New games STILL being released in japan.
Cons: No longer supported in U.S.

Summary: One of the greatest and sadly underestimated consoles ever. With a game library of over 250 U.S. games (and over 300 if you import from japan). When it was introduced to the U.S. it broke record sales destroying its then only competitors the inferior N64 ... read more

  • The Sega Dreamcast

    Mar 08 '05
Pros: Small, excellent value for money, lots of games available of all types
Cons: no respect I tell ya!

Summary: In the long run, there's no defeating a legend, and the Sega Dreamcast is, in my books, no less than a legend. Let me start by clearing up a few things. Q: "Sega Dreamcast? Are you kidding me? My riced-up Pontiac Sunfire can beat that thing!?!" ... read more

  • Dead but still a thrill

    Oct 22 '04
Pros: Great value, great games, VMU
Cons: Noisy, Dead system, Useless controller, Dead system

Summary: I just got a renewed love for Dreamcast. I bought mine when they first came out back so long ago I can't even remember. I had 3 games, but soon lost interest as other hobbies came about...driving for one. Well I'm now a sophmore in College and after ... read more

  • Incredible value, solid gameplay, great fun!

    Aug 10 '04
Pros: Fun games, beautiful graphics, solid gameplay, extra capabilities, awesome price (at times $20 at Gamestop)!
Cons: Limited support, no new games

Summary: The Sega Dreamcast is one of the most underrated and least known-about or appreciated game systems, but it is definitely the best value for a solid console around, excelling in all aspects of conventional gameplay. Although there are no more new games ... read more

  • Still the best Console to date. Period.

    Feb 23 '04
Pros: Processing Power, Cool Games, Modem Included, Innovative Controller and Memory_Card. Shorter Load Times.
Cons: It's no longer here. Only 1 Controller Included.

Summary: I wasn’t too sure about the Sega Dreamcast when it was announced Spring 1998. I had already purchased a Sony Playstation Christmas 1997, months before I saw the new Sega system in a computer magazine. But as months passed, I began to read more ... read more

  • Lean, Mean-N-Dead!

    Dec 18 '03
    Pros: Ease Of Use, Price
Cons: Space Saver, Power, Variety, it's dead.

Summary: We've reached a point now where the current contenders for chief consoles are soaring down in price, but still have a few years before their replacements arrive. Yet which one should you, the consumer, decide to get? That is up to you t decide, but in ... read more

  • Sega's console based systems Final Hurrah!

    Dec 09 '03
Pros: Good graphics and good games.
Cons: Systems popularity died out to quickly.

Summary: I remember late 1999 at age 23 getting my Sega Dreamcast from a Sears store in the Victorville Mall in California. My Dreamcast was reserved in advance. Some months before I was told at an EBX store, that the Dreamcast was going to be 128 megabits. ... read more

  • Dreamcast Rules All

    Jun 02 '03
Pros: Great powerful system. Great games. Not a lot of money to buy system.
Cons: Nothing that comes to mind.

Summary: Dreamcast is a great system. It has great graphics. It sounds great too. Sega might not be making new games for it but it still can compare to oh say Playstation 2. Since it is a older system you can buy games for not that much. The games "to me" are ... read more

  • It May Be Long Gone, But It Will Never Be Dead!!!

    Apr 21 '03
Pros: Four controllers, CD player, internal clock, VMU.
    Cons: CD based games.

Summary: Ah the Dreamcast. I remember when the Dreamcast was first coming out. There was such a big hype for it because of Sonic. Hmm, I guess that died out pretty fast! Let's see. The Dreamcast is about 8 X 8 inches and maybe about four inches ... read more

Pros: The Dreamcast is Cheap, and has lots of good games.
    Cons: Where did it go?

Summary: The Sega Dreamcast, history has officially repeated itself. Remember back before the Nintendo 64 and Playstation came out, what system was it that came out before them, oh yeah it was the Sega Saturn. The Sega Saturn was a short lived system that was ... read more
