Pros: Color; backlit screen; inexpensive; some great titles. Cons: Eats batteries like crazy; no support to speak of these days; bulky.
Summary: I absolutely love the Sega Game Gear. Indeed, I rank this little portable right up there with my beloved Atari Lynx, and that's saying something as I've been an Atari fan since the late 1970s (well, I don't care for the Jaguar or the 5200, but that's ... read more

Pros: Color, Controls, Games Cons: Weight, Size, hard for little kids to play
Summary: About 6 months ago, I reunited with my Game Gear, a handheld console that came out just shortly after its rival Nintendo unveiled the Gameboy. I had bought this system the first time it came out, sold it back in 96 and its back. The only reason I ... read more

Pros: Easy to transport.
Nice graphics for the size (compared to other hand held consoles) Cons: Batteries dont last very long.

Pros: back lighting, Sega's ports Cons: ate up batteries far too fast, underappreciated
Summary: One of the lesser known, and arguably better portable systems of the 90's was Sega's Game Gear. It came out early in the decade, when Nintendo's Game Boy had a firm hold on the handheld market, and brought some excellent franchises from the Genesis and ... read more

Pros: Some quality games, color backlit screen Cons: Eats batteries like candy, bulky, limited buttons
Summary: Way back when Sega felt like they had to one-up every move that Nintendo made, Sega felt like they needed to counter Nintendo's Game Boy, which, in 1990, was selling faster than firewood at the North Pole. So they came out with the Game Gear, a handheld ... read more
