burglars love Sentry safes
by logitech1 ,May 14 '07
Pros: Fire protection. Fairly inexpensive Cons: Burglary protection. Gives you a false sense of security. Can be pried by a toddler
As I looked into a professional locksmith certification course I found out that Sentry safes are used to teach basic opening techniques, more specifically combination locks. If a burglar walks into your home he will be truly delighted to see a Sentry safe.
Sentry will give you fire protection, but ask yourself: how many times do homes get burglarized and how many times do they go up in flames.

Damaged safe packed in sealed box
by johnernest ,Nov 20 '06
Pros: Don't know any pros--safe was unusable upon unpacking. Cons: Sentry Safe has poor customer service policies.
I'm a senior. I purchased a Sentry Safe at Home Depot and paid a handyman $75 to deliver it to my home. When he unpacked it, we found dents and seam separation. The seam separation could affect the water and fire protection that the safe should provide. The cardboard packing box was not damaged. Home Depot refused to come get the safe. Sentry Safe said they would deliver a new one curbside, but I had to disable the damaged safe and dispose of it myself. This means I had to pay someone again to come get the safe and deliver it back to Home Depot or pay someone to take it from curbside into my house and take the damaged safe to the local dump. I had no choice--another $75 to deliver it back to Home Depot. This adventure cost me $150 and I still don't have a safe. So much for customer service.
