Pros: Emotionally powerful. Beautifully made. Poignant, thought provoking. Cons: Obfuscated plot. Gut wrenching story line.
Summary: It has been a while since I have seen a movie as emotionally powerful as Seven Pounds, however, despite the fact that it is beautifully produced and the acting is superb, the movie was disturbing, and I would not recommend spending your money to watch ... read more

Pros: Well-intentioned. Cons: Corny and obvious.
Summary: Though he's been nominated for two Oscars, Will Smith is still more of a movie star than an actor, an entertainer than a dramatic interpreter, as his newest film, Seven Pounds, more than demonstrates. As a guilt-ridden I.R.S. agent unselfishly ... read more

Pros: Comes together really well, heartwarming, well done Cons: The begining is confusing and frustrating, but hang on
Summary: I am actually fairly grateful that this month's promotion is Lean and Mean. Recently my husband and I got to go on a date, and we saw the movie 7 pounds starring Will Smith. When we walked out of there my first thought was, "How am I going to ... read more

Pros: Will Smith does quite well, so does Dawson Cons: serious tear-jerker, inconsistent script
Summary: Seven Pounds is, for many reasons, an interesting movie. It stars Will Smith as Ben Thomas, an IRS agent who truly takes the concept of the Good Samaritan to another level. However, we spend about the first hour of the film wondering why Thomas acts the ... read more

Pros: Will Smith's acting is wonderful, all the pieces come together nicely in the end. Cons: It may be too sappy for some, and it's a bit confusing in the beginning
Summary: The trailers begin with Smith's voice over declaring, "In seven days, God created the world, and in seven seconds I shattered mine." But how? This movie starts at the end, with Ben Thomas (Smith's character) making a 911 call from his motel room to ... read more

Pros: Will Smith acted his a** off in this movie. Cons: Very sad series of events.
Summary: When I saw the trailer for Will Smith's new movie, Seven Pounds, it didn't really reveal much to me to let me know what the movie was about. It kind of gave me an eyeful but still, I would not have expected the movie to be what it was. That is why ... read more

Pros: To leave a legacy of life can be a very painful, yet very rewarding. Cons: The tone is very very low key, except for brief moments of lightness.
Summary: When I first heard of seven pounds and watching the previews, I thought it was something about losing weight. Looking at Will Smith's face, it appeared he had lost a lot of weight for this movie. But I realized his faced had the appearance of a ... read more

Pros: A moving film, which takes "Pay it Forward" to another level Cons: A bit too long and too much facial angst by Smith
Summary: Wow, as my fellow reviewers have noted, this is a complicated movie. I can't review it without one or two spoilers, so be forewarned! In not summarizing the plot, I have done my best to avoid giving too much away. You really need ... read more

Pros: Smith; kept me wondering; makes sense in end Cons: spiritual ending; maybe too mysterious for some; perhaps too serious
Summary: I didn't know what to expect when somebody asked me if I had heard of the new film Seven Pounds and would I like to see it. He looked pretty excited about it and so I took a chance and agreed. Could seven pounds refer to a baby? That didn't ... read more

Pros: Ending, heavy symbolism Cons: Takes too long to develop, doesn't give Smith adequate chance to act

Pros: Good acting, excellent cinematography Cons: Much too predictable due to a lack of a decent script
