Saves time? Yes! I didn't start doing laundry until college and the one thing my mother drummed into my head was to separate and keep similar colors together. I followed the advice to the letter of the law and all these years have painstakingly ...
Pros: No one who does a load of laundry should be without it. Cons: I can't find it in any store at this point. Where can I buy it???
I am frustrated because none of the stores carry it anymore and my clothes look 100% better when I use them in the washing machine. Colors do NOT transfer and all the clothes and towels look wonderful, not that nasty grey look. Please do not ...
Pros: ease of use, flexibility of use, economy of use Cons: possibly higher priced than one would like--but, hey, lunch is never free!
I have been using Color Catchers ever since they were invented and showed up in the grocery store servicing the small "frontier" Eastern Montana town I live in (Sidney, population approx. 5K). At the time I discovered Color Catchers I was blessed/cursed ...
I can’t remember where I first heard about Shout Color Catchers but I bet it was probably on here and I am still amazed at how many friends I have that still have not heard or have not tried these wonderful things. Shout Color Catchers ...
Pros: SAVES TIME AND EFFORT! SO EASY TO USE Cons: NONE NONE NONE
THIS IS AMAZING!!! I HAVE A HUSBAND AND 3 KIDS AND WORK FULL TIME. LAUNDRY WAS SOMETHING I DESPISED!!! IT CONSUMED ALL OF MY SPARE TIME, WHICH WITH A FULL TIME JOB, 3 KIDS AND A HUSBAND, THERE WAS NOT MUCH OF. I GOT SO TIRED OF TELLING PEOPLE WHEN ASKED ...
Pros: Absorbs stray pigment Cons: Not a highly necessary product unless you do lots of died clothing.
One of the great things about product inventors (and the marketing departments that go along with them) is the uncanny knack for creating products that I never knew I needed. Something to catch the stray colors of clothing in the washing machine to save ...
Pros: Relatively inexpensive catastrophe insurance. Cons: Can't work its magic after the damage is done.
Mrs. Spudman has raved about Shout Color Catcher for quite a while now, and after about a year of hearing its praises her words finally hit home. She uses it when washing new garments or when washing dark clothing with light garments. Now that I ...
Pros: Really works; removes dye from water. Cons: A bit pricey at about twenty cents per wash.
The "Hawaiian shirt", with its many colors and areas of contrast, is a launderer's nightmare. A little bit of color in a white area, softening of a yellow or fading of a stark red, and the effect may be all but ruined. Dyes in most garments are ...
I have a 2½ year old son who is always getting new clothes. He grows so quickly he is in constant need of new things. For me, the first laundering is always the most stressful, because I worry that the dyes from the new clothes are going to bleed ...
Pros: Convenient to use, cuts down laundry loads, effective
Cons: None
Ever wonder when sorting clothes to wash where to place that item with bright red stripes alongside white stripes? Or maybe you've got a load of bright colors and just one dark red item you'd love to toss in with the others? And of course there's ...
Pros: They work quite well at preventing color bleeding between clothes. Cons: Expensive at $3+ for 24 sheets
I dread doing laundry. There are so many things you can't wash together, which means more loads and more time. and Heaven forbid the hubby or teenage son do it, or do it right. I get athletic socks washed with my lovely sweaters that normally go ...
Pros: This product works! on new material, new clothes, not-new but very colorful clothing! Cons: It is not inexpensive; however, you don't need this for every load you wash.
I was told about this type of product by quilters who do not pre-wash fabric before quilting; however, it works just as well if you do pre-wash your materials before quilting. Being a new quilter I had thought you must pre-wash your fabric before sewing, and that was really time and money-consuming because of the need to separate all the colors. When this came up during a class, someone told me about this product, and the fact that you don't need to pre-wash material before sewing/quilting.
I also throw a Color Catcher in with my red shirts being washed with jeans and other slacks, blouses, socks - whatever! I can and have washed my very colorful clothing with whites and not seen any transfer of color to the whites or within the item itself; I also use this product with new jeans and other dark clothing when washing with other "play clothes".
I love this product!! My mom uses them, my Grandma uses them, and so do a lot of my friends. I tell everyone about how great they work. I've seen a lot of pink socks in my life!!! I'm always amazed when I take them out of the washer and see how much color is on there!
Where Was This When I Needed It? by nanaof9 ,Sep 16 '07
Pros: Prevents almost all types of laundry "disasters". Even dad's can safely do laundry. Cons: Pricy at $3.75-$3.99 per package. Woolite made "Dye Magnets"...same principal. Are they still available?
I have bought this product for each of my grandchildren's mothers...daughter and daughters-in-law. I have noticed you can reuse the sheet if its not too full of dye. Kind of pricey, but there is usually a $.55 coupon on the inside packaging. That fact is NOT noted on the outside of the package.
Pros: Peace of mind! Water saver because one can combine loads without concern. Priced fairly. Cons: None
I've given a box of Color Catchers to everyone I know because I've been concerned about lack of advertising. None of my friends was aware of this product before I introduced her/him to it. Because we live on farmland, we have a special need to conserve our well water and the energy required to bring it to the house. This product does both by allowing me to combine loads that I previously would have kept separate. The color of the "catcher" after a mixed load has run is proof of how effective it is. I LOVE Color Catchers and am uneasy when I exhaust my supply.
