  • Sony DCR-TRV19 Mini DV Camcorder with USB

    Apr 16 '03
Pros: Excellent value, very good picture and sound, features, connections, touch-panel screen
Cons: No memory card, poor still picture quality, no analog inputs

Summary: The Sony DCR-TRV19 is the Sony’s entry-level MiniDV digital camcorder. And entry-level does not mean “limited”. The camcorder has many advanced functions and solid performance. MiniDV ... read more

    Dec 06 '03
Pros: Touch screen and lighted is convenient
    Cons: Warranty and service

Summary: I bought this on July 30th with the expectation of it lasting awhile, a few years at least. I thought Sony was a good name. I didn't buy the extended warranty because it was 20% of the cost which I thought was too much. My JVC lasted over 7 years. I ... read more

  • Small is beautiful

    Oct 22 '03
Pros: Compact size, excellent image quality, touch panel LCD is fabulous, fast recharge time
Cons: Supplied software very poor, slow rewind times, USB 2.0 doesnt live up to its promise

Summary: The Sony DCR-TRV19 is the entry level model in the company's latest batch of MiniDV camcorders. Sony seem to have a somewhat mixed up strategy with its video camera range, while still pushing its own (and outdated) Digital8 format at the budget end, goin ... read more

  • Ideal for point and shoot users

Pros: Great picture quality even in poor lighting conditions, intuitive operation.
Cons: B & W viewfinder. A little short on manual features. LCD durability?

Summary: We just had the birth of our first baby in August. What does that mean? A propensity to spend money on things you would normally never buy. One of those things happen to be a digital camcorder. Although a Digital8 camcorder is almost half the price ... read more

Summary: I purchased this camera locally at the web price for $586 in March of 2003. I bought some extra batteries and a charger that charges the batteries outside the camera. Sony's charger plugs into the camera. The battery that comes with the camera has less ... read more

  • Stay away from SONY camcorders

    Jun 08 '05
    Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Won't last! You'd rather throw your money away!

Summary: We bought TRV-19 about 2 years ago. After modest use during this period, the camera stopped recording. It would play back but not record. SONY asks for $269 plus taxes to even look at it (that's 50% of the cost of the camera!). If you look around you

  • TRV19 - Poor reliability, Poor Customer Support

    May 24 '05
Pros: nice to look at and hold
Cons: Video unit fails after light use, unresponsive, uncaring, and unwilling customer support from Sony.

Summary: We bought a TRV19 for xmas 2003, used it the first time in June 2004, and it no longer worked by xmas 2004. All it did was sit in the case. The video recording function went bad, although it would still play back tapes. After several adversarial
