Pros: Good video quality, cheap price, good features, easy to use, fantastic zoom! Cons: Lower pixel count than MiniDV, bigger, big digital zoom, bottom loading cassestes.
I currently own 2 camcorders, a Sony DCR-TRV38 MiniDV camcorder and a Sony DSR-PD170 professional camcorder. I do not own a DCR-TRV250, however, I am currently in Grade 12 and am taking quite a few art/media/advertising courses and have used the ...
Pros: Compact size, great pictures/recordings, easy to use. Cons: Electronic failure after 3 years.
We bought the SONY DCR-TRV250 because it was the nicest camcorder we could find in our price range. We also liked that it was a Sony, which my husband said has a good reputation. The camcorder was easy to use and light weight. Even a young kid ...
Pros: Plenty of features for intermediate users; more than enough for beginners for the price. Cons: Included battery only lasts 1hour.
Bottom load of cartridge requires removal of camera from tripod.
After doing a lot of web research, I became sold on the Sony brand, but the prices on the MiniDV systems (my first choice) were way out of line, for someone who would only be doing casual recordings of family events and video hobbyist subjects. I had a ...
Pros: Price, low light sensibility, torch, infrared vision,DV in/out,remote,ease of use Cons: Short battery life, uninspired bottom loading cassette, colors a bit bland
I bought this camera because of its price and of features. Given my experience with digital photo cameras, the fancier and smaller it gets, the more drawbacks it has. Did you know that the real world difference between a 540 k pixels (like this one) and ...
Pros: Battery life, ease of use, light Cons: Blurry, Hard to transfer to HD, Bad focus, Big and heavy
I saved up for a long time to purchase this camera after I had my daughter. I wanted to make sure I would catch her first steps. I would have preferred a dvd camcorder but at that time they were too expensive. I chose Sony because they are a leading name ...
Pros: price, quality, ease of use, size Cons: must use camera to charge the battery
I've used the TRV250 for five or six filming sessions so far and am very pleased with the results. This camera fits my needs and was within my budget. All shoots have been outside except for one and quality is fine for all. I feel that the outside shot ...
My story sounds just like qz060's. We must have bought from the same production run. My husband bought this for me last Christmas. Less than two weeks after the one year warranty expired I went to record and all I could get was a dark lcd/view screen ...
Pros: IEEE, NIGHT VISION, Quality picture Cons: Battery life could be more, but there is EBAY, Software is nothing special
Hello.
This is a great product that offers USB web cam ability, FIREWIRE, and many nice features. I do think it is worth the 50 bucks to get the 350 (Although still shot is not very good).
The price is fair and I've uploaded movies and...
I decided to get this camcorder because its digital, and because of the price. I love the 700x Zoom, although the picture can be blurrey when its too close. The cam is very light weight, and functional. But if I had extra cash on hand I would had bought...
Pros: easy to use, good picture, zoom Cons: unreliable, poor life span, Sony service too expensive
Bought this camcorder new a little less than 2 years ago (22 months). Always took good care of it. Recorded maybe 8 full tapes over those 2 years. All of a sudden it started beeping and flashing an error message C23:31. This comes on any time you try to record or play a tape and the camera is useless. Looked up the error message in the manual, manual says to remove battery/tape, reinsert both, and try again. When that didn't work I contacted Sony customer service and found they were going to charge $269 + shipping to repair it! For a camera that cost $450 new 2 years ago? So I took it to my local electronics store who charged $50, declared it "fixed" (said they cleaned and lubed the heads), and sent me on my way. They claim it ran 2 hours but never worked for me at home. Thought about buying the same model again on eBay but I think I will investigate other more reliable cameras after seeing a couple troubling reviews here on epinions. A camera should be made to last more than a year or two for crying out loud!
Appears I'm not the only one having reliability issue... by andyfe ,Apr 28 '05
Pros: so easy to use my wife could figure it out Cons: I was expecting to get more than 15 months out of this thing.
Well this camcorder was given to us as a christmas present about 15 months ago. It was very easy to use and seemed to work well until today when I turned it on to record. All I get is black through the LCD and viewfinder. It's as if the lens cap is on (it's not). I checked the manual and followed the procedure but it was no help, so I went to the website and it turns out there's actually a faq of my exact problem! Of course once you get through checking for lens caps and doing a manual "reset" of the thing if that doesn't work service is required. Service, as others have already stated, costing $269. No thank you.
