Pros: Excellent video quality, nice fit to your hand, large LCD, touch screen
Cons: Lack of control buttons other than touch screen, low light quality

Summary: Overall I am very satisfied with the Sony TRV-38. I have owned Panosonics and JVC units, and the TRV-38 is by far the best unit I have used. The 10x zoom is a limitation of the Carl Zeiss lens, which is a good trade of quality over quantity. When ... read more

Pros: Ease of use, large LCD panel, very good to excellent video quality and output options.
Cons: Wind noise. The tape loading mechanism exposes internal parts and makes them susceptible to dust.

Summary: My decision to buy a SONY MINI DV camcorder was primarily influenced by two factors: 1) SONY's long history of producing excellent camcorders and 2) with MINI DV I could burn home videos on CDs and DVDs. This is my first camcorder. I did not have any p ... read more
