Pros: Excellent video quality, nice fit to your hand, large LCD, touch screen Cons: Lack of control buttons other than touch screen, low light quality
Summary: Overall I am very satisfied with the Sony TRV-38. I have owned Panosonics and JVC units, and the TRV-38 is by far the best unit I have used. The 10x zoom is a limitation of the Carl Zeiss lens, which is a good trade of quality over quantity. When ... read more

Pros: Ease of use, large LCD panel, very good to excellent video quality and output options. Cons: Wind noise. The tape loading mechanism exposes internal parts and makes them susceptible to dust.

Pros: Excellent video and sound quality. Easy to use. Best bang for your buck. Cons: Poor optical zoom(10x). Needs wide angle lens($100).
Summary: The Sony DCR-TRV38 is the best video camera you can get for that price. I have bought and returned several(4) video cameras because the video and or sound was not good enough. You can't really tell how good the camera is until you make a video and play
