Pros: None
Cons: Very poorly made.
Came installed in my Dell Inspiron E1705.
Label shows Manufactured Date February 2006.
Drive totally died in April 2007, 2 months out of warranty. I never even used the thing for the first year; just recently started burning disks and it dies after burning 15 disks over a two month period.

Sony DWQ58A DVD Burner for Laptop
by sporty04 ,Nov 02 '05
Pros: Good price, burns flawlessly, quiet, good fit, came with nice NTI DVDMaker software.
Cons: Have to upgrade software to continue using full backup feature.
I recently installed this dvd burner in my Dell 700M and couldn't be more pleased. It took a little bit of work to get the plug relocator and bezel off the old drive onto the new without breaking it, but after that the drive plugs right in and the computer recognized it without a problem.
Bought it at newegg for 82 dollars which imo is a steal for a laptop dvd burner.
