Every Household should have a Swiiffer WetJet
by MickiJ22 ,Sep 06 '04
Pros: Quicker, Cleaner, Sanitary. Dispose if the dirt right away. Teach kids to clean.
Cons: Have to keep the cleaner and pads in stock. Useless without them.
This is the greatest invention since the mop ringer. The Swiffer actually makes since to have. You have the mop and the bucket in your hand. You can clean up spills and and clean wood floors with the same "mop" - Halleluia. I bought it so that I could keep my floor clean between "big floor cleaning day" which used to be once a week. Now I can keep my floors clean all the time. The "Pinesol" commercial is trying to play down the Swiffer, but they are two different kinds of cleaning. The Swiffer even has anti-bacteria cleaner, which gives even better piece of mind that I am really cleaning and not just moving dirt around. Then I get to throw the mess away when I am done. No more mop in the bucket in the corner of the bathroom anymore. If you don't have one, get one.

Mops the floor very well
by ggingin57 ,Jul 24 '04
Pros: Cleans great no more dirty mop water
Cons: The handle is not built very strong
The ideal is a good one on how this mops works. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is not built very strong. After using it for awhile the handle will break. If it was made a little stronger I would tell the housekeeper of world to buy it.

Use Your OWN Cleaning Fluid!
by redfox99_99 ,Feb 11 '04
Pros: Easy and quick to use. Minimum hassle. Cleans adequately.
Cons: Fluids, pad refills expensive. Use your own cleaning fluids!
I've been pleased with the Swifter Jet for basic cleaning of a small linoleum or vinyl floor. The cleaning refill fluid has a pretty standard price BUT with a good wrench, you can remove the white cap on the bottle and replace with a MUCH cheaper bulk cleaning fluid like ammonia or other generic cleaning liquids. This greatly reduces use costs. I still haven't figured out how to use something other than the pads but I'm working on it. The big advantage of the Swifter Jet is the battery powered spray. It's far superior to the Clorox competitor. That pump gave out quickly.

What a wasteful product!
by hopegoat ,Sep 30 '03
Pros: Good question.
Cons: Terribly wasteful, expensive in long-run. Landfills will bulge with mop pads, bottles, and batteries!
Well little did I know that the Swiffer Wetjet is just another gadget that'll give you headaches. First, I was unaware that this mop actually needs batteries to use it! Just what I need. Then you constantly need to touch and replace the pads. Don't even think of mopping a spill--you'll go through a bunch of pads! And then you have to buy more refill cleaning bottles (mine lasted about 4 weeks)--can't reuse these with your own cleaning solution! Boy the landfills must groan with the likes of this product. Get a sponge mop.

Swiffer Wet Jet
by sassy1979 ,Mar 02 '04
Pros: It makes your home smell good and your floor shiny.
Cons: Doesn't clean tough spots as well and can take a little longer.
I finally talked my Mom into buying the Swiffer Wet Jet thinking it would be more sanitary and less work. You don't have to keep dipping it into a bucket of dirty water to just splash the dirt all over the floor again.

When I finally got it together right I started mopping the Kitchen floor and realized it was a lot harder then using a regular mop. I had to go over sticky spots over and over again. When I tried to use the scrubbing part on the side to get the spots easier the swiffer kept flopping around. This did help when I could get it to stay still.

After I finished mopping the floor did look very shiny and the kitchen smelt very good. It may have taken a little more effort than I thought it would to get the floor clean with the Swiffer Wet Jet but it did come clean. If you continued mopping once a week it probably wouldn't be so hard. I had waited at least a month before mopping with the Swiffer Wet Jet.

Needed something to clean up after new puppies.
by eeyoresp ,Sep 27 '04
Pros: Picks up pet hair along with the dirt.
Cons: Having to buy the refills.
I had a $5.00 coupon off of a starter kit. I was looking for a good mop, because we just adopted 2 new puppies. Between feeding, watering, and shedding I needed something that would work.
Well, I decided to get the swiffer wet jet. I have only used it a couple of times, but I love it. It picks up the hair along with the dirt. It has really thick absorbant pads. I also like the smell of the cleaner that came with the kit.
Cons: Having to buy the refill pads and cleaner is going to be more expensive than mop and bucket.
Overall I really like this product and will use it often.

Swiffer Me Away....from this poor promotion!
by tinktwinkle ,Sep 21 '03
Pros: -Tricks Boyfriend into thinking mopping is fun! -Good for Maintenance cleaning.
Cons: -Doesn't replace mop. -Refills $$$$ -Must vacuum thoroughly first, no pet hair, sand
I bought this at the very beginning of the Swiffer promotion swiffering the nation. Needless to say I had
some disappointment. For $80. CDN it was not worth it. It has come down in price, so that is why I approve it now.

The Pro's:

1. Easy to assemble.
2. Great for spills and small rooms
3. No smelly mop hanging around, disposable cleaning pads make it easy to throw away and replace
4. Cleaning pads hold quite a bit of liquid/dirt before needing replacement.
5. Product can hang on a hook in a closet or back of door out of the way
7. Boyfriend likes using it, he think it's fun *gasp*

Cons:

1. Leaves floors looking dull.
2. Big room? Heavy Duty Cleaning? Dried on Foods? Forget it. Unless you want to spend over $10 in replacement cleaning bottles.
3. Not great for pet hair/sand remaining (some misses the vacuum)

Assembly: Easy
Instructions: Easy
Ease of Use: Easy
Storage: Excellent. Can hang from hook. Not Big & Bulky

new large cleaning solution bottles break the wet jet
by shortkids ,Oct 24 '09
Pros: Easy to use! I have no problems with the cleaning solutions.
Cons: The new big cleaning solution bottles break the flimsy wet jet mop stick.  .
I want a new wet jet!  I had my first one for years and loved it.  It finally disintegrated so I got a new one.  It was....ok.  A bit flimsier, I thought, but OK.  Then I bought the new, bigger bottles of the cleaning solution. apparently all they offer now, and that was it. It promptly broke in half.  I can no longer hang it for storage as the bottom half falls off.   If Swiffer is reading this - I want a a coupon for a new wet jet!  If you're only going to sell large cleaning solution bottles, then you have to make a stronger mop stick and offer replacements to those with the flimsier ones.   I LOVED my Swiffer, but the love is on the rocks.

Great for spills
by barrettm95 ,Sep 01 '04
Pros: Easy
Cons: Still have to use a 'real' mop or floors get sticky.
The Swiffer WetJet is as they claim better than its competitors as far as absorbancy and spray jet performance. It works great on spills and other accute applications and is very easy to use. However, after a couple of weeks you may notice your floors are getting sticky. It just doesn't compete with a good old 'real' mop and some Pine-Sol for actually cleaning your floor.

Just isn't working for hardwood...
by rockergal ,Dec 07 '08
Pros: Great idea, fun to use, fast, no messy buckets.
Cons: Left a huge, smeary, filmy, hazy, ugly mess on hardwood.
I fell for the marketing blitz.  I just moved into an apartment with dark-stained hardwood floors throughout.  I have a cat and a catbox, so my floors can get dusty and I like to keep up with the cleaning.  Of course I swept first, and used a microfiber dustmop too.  Then I tried my new swiffer.  I was so excited at how easy it was to use--press the little button, mop, and you're done.  Then it dried.  YUCK!  Filmy white steaks, and clumps of dirty looking stuff that I thought I had completely swept and dusted everywhere.    I thought maybe I was using too much, or needed to try the wood formulation.  I loved the idea so much that I sprang for the wood formula cleaner.  I just used it today.  YUCK!  Looks even worse!  The label says it dries with NO haze or streaks, but all I see is haze and streaks!  I got out a towel after and tried buffing them off, which improved the appearance somewhat, but what a disappointment. Good idea, but the cleaner just pushes the dirt around, and it seems to deposit more of its own.  Back to the drawing board.

Bad experience on laminate floors
by jbsimp01 ,Mar 22 '08
Pros: convenient, sanitary
Cons: leaves a milky haze, lessens smoothness of floor
Initially, we were very happy with the convenience of the Swiffer wetjet. It just seemed more sanitary. We recently installed laminate floors (like Pergo) and so we got the wejet formula for wood floors. What a disappointment! It leaves a milky haze and ruins the shine the floor naturally had. Also, before we used the wetjet, the floor was somewhat slick in socks - not dangerous, but just a nice smooth feel. After using the wetjet, this went away and you now get the feeling that there's something slightly sticky about the floor. Sticky is probably not the best word, but it was noticably "less slick." I don't know if this a peculiar to the wood floor formulation, but it's a definite show stopper.

Not All That Great
by judyrael ,Dec 27 '06
Pros: Its very fast and handy. Easy to use.
Cons: Dull, Dull, Dull floor and you're forced to use only Swiffer cleaning fluid.
My big complaint is that the bottle of cleaning fluid that you have to use with it DULLS my floor. I have tried 2 different kinds of the fluids that you have a choice of. One for wood floors and the other for all other floors. They both dull my floors. I start out with a clean floor, then put a good coat of wax on it and it shines like a whistle and as soon as I use my Wet Jet for a mop up... The shine is gone. I have a clean floor but no shine. I've tried 2 different kinds of wax on my floor and still have the same problem. I have 3 dogs that live in the house and often muddy footprints in the kitchen. I received my Swiffer for a Christmas present last year (2005). I still use it (A clean dull floor is better then a dirty shiny one).

Made for Clean People
by jaxtang ,Jun 08 '04
Pros: Easy to store, no clean up required. Good for small spills and quick shine.
Cons: Horrible and picking up hair.
Okay, if you are already a somewhat clean person...this is great for you. However, if you are like me and only get around to cleaning your floors once every couple weeks good luck. I have two pets, and though that's my own fault, this product does a horrible job of cleaning up pet hair. It's good for light cleaning or minor spills, and it does make my wood floors a little more shiny. The money can get sucked out of you with having to buy pads and cleaner all of the time, but if you are in a hurry it works great. It doesn't do great with corners or touch to reach place, but for the quick clean it works well. Once a month I still resort back to the hands and knees cleaning.
