Symphonic WF803 DVD Player / VCR Combo

Pros: Seems to work OK on VHS side of the deal.
Cons: DVD player is absolute cheap JUNK.

Quite unreliable piece of JUNK ! The DVD side of the unit is Very Poor, had it back to "warranty station" for repair of the DVD problems (mostly freezing up during play or doing weird-oddball things during play) and it continues to be problematic ! If you leave it sit for Days without playing a DVD ----- it seems to straighten up for awhile , , , kind of like when it 'warms up' it goes to pot. Have grown REAL tired of this POOR QUALITY electronic nightmare, my next probable step is to use it as an alternative TROTLINE anchor !! !! !!
Bought it at Wal-Mart the "day after Thanksgiving" about 4 years ago, should have given around $3.95 for it! ! ! !

Pros: Simple, uncomplicated, Durable - if in warranty, factory would have honored it without a fuss.
Cons: Warranty service, parts and\or repair not easily available, factory advised to replace because of cost.

I purchased my unit from Sam's Club over 2 years ago just after they first came out... It has been well used, both DVD and VCR.. I have not one complaint about the performance and quality of this unit except that with all things they do wear out..the DVD player quit!!
I would say this is a great entry unit and it fits well in most entertainment units. Not complicated to hook cables to your TV and the manual is fairly straight forward with good example pictures..

Pros: Inexpensive, easy setup
Cons: Fails to play DVD's after a short time and no support to fix the issues.

At first, the machine worked fine. Then after a few DVD playings, it would not play anymore. VHS tapes are okay still though. It says to eject this disk that it may not be compatible. No matter what DVD is inserted, I get this message. I cannot find any more information on this subject other than to clean the lens and to check parent controls.
