Slightly edges out the Galaxy Tab because of better graphics and sound, but not so much better that I wouldn't recommend the Galaxy Tab.

If you aren't going to be doing anything that requires a laptop in college, I highly recommend getting an iPad instead. There are several apps to aid you in school.

I highly recomend this tablet.  It houses a variety of capabilities, and its funtionality is virtually endless.  Great operating system (android 4.0) which is very smooth and easy to use!
