I really enjoy Billy Bob Thorton movies and was driven to see this film because of the trailers.

The whole movie is based on living out what seems to be an impossible dream. For this, I give it 5 stars.

The problem I had was that the entire scheme could not happen in real life. Who has the time or money to buy spare rocket parts and build a space vehicle? For this, I give it 1 star.

When I was watching Shrek or Night at the Museum, I knew they were made up stories. I could sit back and enjoy them. In Astronaut Farmer, it seems like someone could actually pull this off.

Texas rancher Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton) was once a NASA hopeful who quit when tragedy struck his family. Now his only chance to get into space is to do it himself. Blessedly, the Polishes avoid the typical origin setup that most movies of this type would use. They begin with the story already in progress; the rocket is nearly built. They also avoid stupid, bludgeoning exposition because, naturally, Farmer's friends and family would never actually talk to him about his past misfortune. They cleverly save all our questions for a TV newscast in which a reporter reveals all. Although it was nice to see Billy Bob go back to a dramatic role it was refreshing. Even though this couldn't happen it was also nice to see a movie without a messed up family and peoples heads not getting sawed off

Pros: Live your dream, keep visualizing and believing!
Cons: You can always quit, so do something exciting and try again!

Great story of Dream, Struggle, and Then the Prize. It is a very fun movie that has a lot of great reminders about how important it is for us to keep living our Dreams! Good for the whole family!
