  • THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE BANK ROBBERY MOVIE

    Mar 08 '08
Pros: Well written, great acting, and great direction
Cons: Violence and nudity might bother some viewers

Summary: After suffering through "10,000 B.C." and "Semi-Pro" this past week, I needed to see a good action film. "The Bank Job" certainly fulfilled my fondest wishes. The film is one of those "based on a true story" and it even ends with a tagline "The names ... read more

  • The best heist movie since the original Ocean's Eleven!

    Jul 07 '08
Pros: Keeps you on the edge of your seat, convincing performances, keeps you guessing.
Cons: Starts a little slow, otherwise nothing.

Summary: An action film starring Jason Statham. It could have been just another routine action picture, but instead, it’s a heist picture based on an amazing true story that happened in London in the 1970s. The fact that what really happened is still shrodad ... read more

  • "...because I've seen everything, I've seen it all." "Oh, it's a comedy is it?" "No."

    Mar 25 '08
Pros: Good heist movie with properly flawed characters. Riveting and believable.
Cons: Slow intro, some brief moments of insincerity, weaker resolution.

Summary: That's an obscure Patrick Stewart reference you've got there. Well I can't help but feel that he had a hand in this film. You feeling okay, monkey? Well, I have been playing a lot of Ravin' Rabbids lately. My imitations of said rabbids ... read more

  • Jason Statham in another Heist Film?.... but it's Good!

    Mar 18 '08
Pros: The first Heist movie I've seen in a while that didn't seem cliched.
Cons: Some may find it cliched, because the heist film has been done many times.

Summary: Statham came to fame in a couple Guy Ritchie films about heists, and also appeared in a remake of The Italian Job, also about a heist. In fact, it seems that everyone's doing Heist films these days like Oceans 11, 12 and 13, The Inside Job, and ... read more

  • A Quiet Film About Robbing Banks, Murderous Thugs and Kinky Sex

    Mar 16 '08
Pros: thoughtful, with good dialogue and convincing performances
Cons: slow, somewhat convoluted story, a bait and switch for Statham fans

Summary: It started with an interesting premise. A gang of minor thieves break into a London bank, not because they were smart enough to see a golden opportunity on their own but because the government wants them to. Inside the vault, there are photos - highly ... read more

  • Fast-paced story with solid acting and solid action

    Mar 13 '08
Pros: Great story, gritty true feeling, genuine acting make film enjoyable.
Cons: Accents and slang can confuse some. Contains nudity, language, and some violence.

Summary: In a world full of flashy movies with big explosions and unbelievable action sequences it is hard to find a movie that brings a solid story to the big screen. That is exactly what “The Bank Job” does; it brings a solid story with solid action. ... read more

  • THE BANK JOB--THIS ROBBERY IS NOW A MATTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY

    Mar 08 '08
Pros: Jason Statham, Saffron Burrows; great heist elements and scandalous
Cons: Way too convoluted and way too many characters

Summary: Terry Leather (Jason Statham) is a cool, used car shop owner with an eye on the future and a hand in petty crime. When an old friend from the neighborhood, Martine (Saffron Burrows, looking gaunt and lovely enough to be Keira Knightley's older sister), ... read more

  • Breathing New Life into Heist Films: The Bank Job

    Mar 06 '08
Pros: Great cast, solid direction, fascinating story.
Cons: It's a little longer than it needs to be.

Summary: Based on a true story, The Bank Job has something most modern day caper films are missing—a sense of verisimilitude. While I’ve certainly enjoyed the Rube Goldberg-esque machinations of the schemes in films like Ocean’s Eleven (and its sequels), it’s ... read more

  • Solid Movie

    Nov 17 '09
Pros: Impactful movie and I would watch again.
Cons: Acting wasn't spectacular, but good enough.

Summary: I didn't have high expectations going into watching this movie, but it exceeded. I thought the plot was solid and the action was impressive enought. The acting was so/so, but as I said earlier my expectations weren't too high. Overall I would recommend

  • Loved it! Not just one for the boys

    Sep 16 '09
Pros: Interesting, well acted, great costumes, an intriguing and interesting story all round.
Cons: None really. Not necessarily a "big screen must see" film.

Summary: I must admit I went to see this for Jason Statham alone but was really surprised! I think the fact it was based on a true story gave some authenticity to the movie and it was a heist / thriller that females can enjoy too. One of the main leads was a
