Pros: I don't have children who will beg me to watch this Cons: far too many to list
Over the years I have pondered what would happen if Benita Bizarre finally caught up to the kooky crazy Bugaloos and took them down with an industrial sized can of RAID. The other day Pippa told me to tune into a new show on Playhouse Disney ...
Pros: They made me a big fan of the Wiggles Cons: Just a horrible show all around. Quite creepy, really.
Disclaimer: Before I begin my epinion, I have to admit, Im not a huge fan of the television. I tend to be incredibly picky about the shows my kids watch so I may be a bit more biased in my review. My daughter is almost two and because of her ...
Pros: I got a good giggle Cons: utterly frightening
Yesterday morning, Beanie and I were trapped in the house while Bug took an unscheduled morning nap. She was happily reading a book but asked for the television on, and since I knew we'd be outside, I obliged with Playhouse Disney. Well, I wasn't ...
Pros: Fun danceable music, positive messages for kids. Cons: The talking wig-stands are really creepy, and I'm not crazy about the talking moosehead either.
My 3yo daughter and I just started watching the Doodlebops, and we both enjoy the show. I like how it exposes kids to different styles of music (doo-wop, jazz, even some opera), the choreography is a lot of fun to try to recreate in the living room, and ...
Pros: Great music! Lot's of fun for young children. Cons: Moe pulling the rope, and the lip sync being off sometimes.
I have a 2 and 1/2 year old that LOVES the show, and I do not see one thing wrong with that. Most of the reviews I've read over the past few weeks on different sites have been so negative. The adults writing the reviews all seem to HATE the show. ...
Pros: Catchy tunes, positive messages, children enjoy it Cons: Horrible costume and set design
I have watched the show and flipflop on whether I like it or not. I have also read the other reviews and think that some are really over the top against it. The characters don't act gay, they just have REALLY bad costumes and act silly. I didn't ...
Pros: My daughter is not attached to watching them like she is the Wiggles. Cons: Terrible fashion sense, campy, overacting, stereotypically gay, and just plain uncreative.
I think the programmers at Playhouse Disney must have been bribed or given hallucinogenic drugs in order to put this show on. Everything they do is like a ripoff of the Wiggles, and way overdone: look at the phoney clown hands, the plastic hair and ...
Pros: ......A good reminder to turn the TV off and read a book! Cons: 15 words isn't enough - everything is a con!
I heard of the Doodlebops before I saw them, so I was prepared for an annoying show. And it delivered! But I was not prepared for just how bizarre it was. What ARE they? I was glad to read here that I was not the only person actually creeped out by ...
Pros: Funny to watch, Regular people looking to make children happy, and ALOT of talent! Cons: Not on enough, only tour in Canada
I have a 1 1/2 year old daughter and she LOVES the Doodlebops! As a matter of fact, I even found myself googling them to find out more about them. Deedee, WOW, what a voice on her! I think she is adorable, even her giggle is cute. Rooney, well, he does ...
Pros: Positive, colourful, repetitive. Cons: Its on at the same time here as sesame street. Bye bye sesame.
I have been looking at many of the reviews here with some amusement and head shaking... The Doodlebops are fictional characters in a show aimed at kids up to age 5. So a lot of adults write reviews based on their grown up notions of what is good and ...
Pros: I know not to watch it again Cons: The opening, the ending, and everything in between
All the 1-star reviews have done a fabulous job of describing this sub-basement show so I won't go into the utterly insipid quality of this lame, poorly produced piece of junk that Disney is marketing to sell a bunch of cheap DVDs and CDs here in the US. ...
The Doodlebops: The New Bay City Rollers? by everest1 ,Aug 15 '05
Pros: Healthy childhood musical/dance imagination Cons: The "boys" in the band are a little too light in the loafers
Every kid loved the Bay City Rollers if you grew up in the early 70's. Since then, no one has really stepped up to do another program like that. The Doodlebops are the one's who've come closest in a long time to do the "kid rock star" show. Beats American Idol that's for sure.
Now all we need is a new "Banana Split," "H.R. Puffinstuf," or "New Zoo Review." Nostalgia helps here but, when you really think about it, because of a lot of "our" programming back then, we turned out all right. I hope we all want the same for our kids.
The imaginary rock/pop kid music is so healthy for the creative process. Weather they're dressed up ridiculously through adult eyes, every child who watches The Doodlebops is riddled with color and imagination.
I just wish Lisa Lennox would change her name. If you Google search her, a porn star shows up.
Wow, can't believe it's all that bad. by holjayc ,Apr 23 '07
Pros: The actors have great enthusiasm for what they are doing that shows to my child. Cons: I have to listen to the CD 24/7 and now I'm singing along!
My son is 4 and we've just recently began to watch. We first took him to his first concert and it was really a rock concert. He loved it so much that he's hooked now. My husband and I even had a good time. I think all these parents that are writing bad reviews should remember what they watched on TV when they were this age. It's no worse than the Banana splits, come on bad monkey costumes were pretty scary and Bugs Bunny always going after the coyote and this was what we loved! At least the Doodlebops aren't teaching violence like the shows I remember. Not only that, but The Doodlebops actually can sing! My son sings along to all their music and he's learning how to be a part of a special group by reciting the Doodlebop pledge when he watches the show. There is nothing bad about them, it's great just the way it is!
Grandchildren think this show is great!!! by ilovecrafts1 ,Jul 06 '05
Pros: Love the music, dancing and interaction with the audience Cons: Can't think of any
I discovered this show just recently and are as entertained by it as my grandchildren. We even set our TV so we don't miss any episodes. I think it is on 3 or 4 times a day here in Ohio and we watch all of them, over and over. Can't wait for a CD or Video to come out with them. Mammaw (Grandma) and her grandchildren sing and dance around the room and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Go Doodlebops!! We all know the pledge, the words to the songs and the movements. By the way, my grandchildren are 3, 6 and 12. My age is a lot older, but I'm not that old, that I can't laugh and have fun with this show also.
Pros: The tunes have a positive message. Cons: There is no clear storyline or any valuable dialogue.
I cannot believe this horrible program made it's way onto the Disney channel, among truly wonderful programming! There are no clear storylines on any of the Doodlebops shows I've seen. There also is no meaningful dialogue between the characters. Although the tunes are catchy and the lyrics are positive, the songs don't fit into any recognizable plot. I'm always left feeling confused about what I've just watched. I don't know a soul who actually likes the program, so I know I'm not alone with my opinion.
Pros: Creative singing and dancing, costumes, facial expressions sets and film editing. Cons: You are required to write something negative even if you do not feel negatively.
Exceptional music, very entertaining dancing and three characters that are, if nothing else, creative. They really have the facial expressions and ideas down for how to appeal to the under five set. True, there are some dumb bits, but nothing as lame as some of what appears on the Wiggles in-between the music. My 16-month old will stay with the Wiggles or JoJo's Circus for about 10 minutes before moving on, but he'll watch the Doodlebops for the entire 25 minutes.
My personal favorite is still Bear--love Bear and Tutter--but the story lines are a little too advanced for under two.
Pros: Awesome music and message!Totally Fun. Cons: Getting past their costumes
Disney has finally redeemed themselves. I HATE The Wiggles, they creep me out, not to mention that their music is totally irritating. The Doodlebops on the other hand are fun CHARACTERS that can both sing and dance. Plus, the message in their show is incredible and one I hope my children take with them: kindness, caring, politeness, CD to be released. I hope this show displaces The Wiggles!
Reasons to Watch the Doodlebops by Madison, age 4 and a half by karenaberry ,May 27 '05
Pros: Moe always pulls that red cord and gets his hair wet Cons: Nothing. I like everything.
I love Dee Dee. They are nice and funny. I like all of them. I love all of them. My favorite part of the show is when Moe hides. And also, my favorite part of the show is when Dee Dee and Rooney find Moe.
I like the concert too. Especially when Dee Dee plays the keyboard.
Pros: It's safe for my kids to watch--I don't worry about the language. Cons: I can't seem to get those songs out of my head!!
I hadn't found my one and a half year old something for just a good "down time." Then one morning the Doodlebops came on and he was so content dancing to the songs and actually watching the show! It's been a life saver while I cook dinner, now I'm not tripping over my little guy anymore! :o) I also have a five year old who also loves the show. His favorite part is the knock knock joke at the end and has to tell everyone he sees the new one he's learned. We've made a habit of Tivo-ing the new episodes since my boys only watch a limited amount of television during the day and this way it's on when we need it on (even at 11 at night with an ear ache!).
Doodlebops: Let's Remember This is a KIDS Show by jifs_thoughts ,Jun 10 '05
Pros: Fun, Energetic, Colorful Cons: None
My 2 1/2 year old LOVES The Doodlebops. She loved them the minute she saw them. They are energetic, colorful, musical, and teach kindness and love (which might I add is lacking in the world today). I read the other reviews and I feel that some of the other reviewers have lost sight that this is a KIDS show and isn't meant to captivate an audience of adults. Seeing my daughter smile and knowing that she is learning to be a kind and fun human being. It may not be the most intellectually stimulating show she could watch, but kids need a mixture of programming and activities. I (and my daughter) give this show 2 thumbs up!
Doodlebops are loved here! by imamomto2 ,May 13 '05
Pros: LOTS of music. Cons: A talking moose head.
My 3and 1/2 year old LOVES the doodlebops. FULL of energy and Music. He loves shows with music. They have a good message for each show and the ending concert is fun.
The worst Playhouse Disney program I have ever seen by bandb87 ,Apr 25 '05
Pros: The writing/plot wasn't too bad Cons: The visual and audio design of the whole show - the LOOK is horrible.
I LOVE Playhouse Disney and I will say that sometimes I would see a new show and have a few reservations when I first saw it but I absolutely ABHORE the Doodlebops!
I cannot believe they are airing this show. The characters are scary looking and I will not let my 3 year old son watch it. It is too bizarre and I'm afraid his brain will be warped or he will start talking in their weird voices or with the strange inflections that they use (like Jack from "Will and Grace").
What happened to developing less psychedelic and strange shows like "Out of the Box", "The Wiggles" and "Bear in the Big Blue House"? Can't Disney start showing reruns of "Bear" or put the new "Charlie and Lola" on full time? "Charlie and Lola" is wonderful! I'm so thoroughly disappointed in Disney that I spent a half-hour on their website trying to find a way to email them and tell them how much I dislike this show.
Let's hope it is short lived - or I will have to monitor the TV listing to be sure it is not on when my son wants to watch "Playhouse Disney".
Great Show for Toddlers by twinmom1227 ,May 23 '05
Pros: Bright, cheerful, bouncy, catchy tunes Cons: Not rocket science
The show is made for kids, and my twins love them!! They sing the songs and love the bright colors and non-stop action. Clearly any adult who watches the show will not be as mesmerized, however I enjoy watching my children watch the show, and they do show the characters working together and having good, clean fun. Not all shows need to be a learning experience. When I was growing up, I liked Scooby-Do and other cartoons, I cannot say that I learned anything from them, why should I make my children watch solely educational show, especially when they are toddlers! So sit back and enjoy your children enjoying the Doodlebops!!
Pros: Talented, entertaining, daughter's favorite show, positive. Cons: Does not play enough!
She just cant get enough of them. At 21 months old, she doesnt even speak full sentences but knows the words of their songs. She dances nonstop, screams when she hears them come on TV. As a parent, I love their positive attitudes and their talent as singers and dancers.
A good way to get yourself and your children off your butts! by MamaHoz ,Jun 20 '05
Pros: Repetitive, short 20 minute show, same format each time Cons: Not long enough to get more housework done when I am watching and dancing too!
My two toddler boys and I sing and dance to the Doodlebops nearly every day. The set production is simple, colorful, and not scary. The writing is simple, repetitive and fun. After all, that is what kids like at this age. They know what is coming next and look forward to it. The songs throughout the show, including the concert at the end stick in your brain! I find myself singing them during the day, just like a jingle. Don't watch as an adult, watch as a child, get up with your children and sing and dance and make good memories with them.
Check out their website which includes each episode and the lessons learned, about the cast, synopses of the shows. Here is their website:
http://www.dontpulltherope.com
There are also concerts and merchandise links and a message board. The show is excellent for the purpose it serves, which is educational and entertainment.
Pros: hepls the kids use there imagination Cons: creeeepy for adult to andure
I have a 2 yr old who loves the show. the catchy toons keep her intrested.she is not big on the wiggles or really any other show out there for her age group. now take it for granted she is only aloud to watch about 1 hour of tv a day due to her young age. I find the show a little creepy but it really gets her laughing and danceing. i should mentchin she is atistic so for us to get to see her dance and sing and even laugh is always a treat. we nomaly see her staring into space and crying for no reason.
My preschoolers LOVE Doodlebops by amiemomof3 ,May 05 '05
Pros: Pre-schoolers and parents can enjoy it together. Great Show! Cons: might cause parent weight loss from those adorable dance moves.
I first saw the show about a week ago with my 2 year old daughter. She wiggled and giggled through the entire episode. The following day, my three year old had the same reaction. Now we find ourselves doing the wobbily-wopsy while waiting for the school bus. I think it is a wonderful show. I am very picky about what I let my children watch on television and the time they spend doing it and I highly recommend this program.
It's a show for 3 year olds! Get real! by techguy9707 ,May 19 '05
Pros: Silly, Positive, Safe, Catchy, on target for kids. Cons: A tad repetitive for adults but this is a positive for little ones.
I read all of the other reviews and some seems to have forgotten this is a show for 3 year olds. No plot, no meaningful dialog, bright colors and catchy, silly songs. The Monkeys in TECHNICOLOR! The Banana Splits without the violence. It is repetitive for the sake of it intended audience.
I would gladly let my 2 1/2 year old daughter enjoy this show while I do the laundry and make scrambled eggs for her... and I do.
It has catchy positive (safe) songs and my kid loves it.
My preschoolers & daycare children refuse to watch Doodlebops by kayaly ,Jun 15 '05
Pros: none Cons: Too many to list
As a licensed daycare provider, the children I care for range in age from 8 months to 4 years. We tried to watch this program this morning and it not only gave me an instant headache, the kids asked me to turn the channel almost as fast.
I know that people say to give a show a chance and that you should watch it a couple of times before forming an opinion, but I simply cannot not handle this show. It is sad that Disney would even consider this as part of their programming.
Let's face it, The Wiggles are great and this is a pathetic attempt to copy some aspects of that show. What is the deal with the stupid costumes and painted faces? And how about Roony's voice? Could he sound any more feminine? Talk about confusing to the kids.
In my opinion, this rates right up there in the 'Not in a million years would my children watch this junk' category along with Teletubbies. Simply useless.
Since my children get 2 hours or less of television per day, this will never be a viewing option.
It's a fun show for tykes by shellbell26 ,May 20 '05
Pros: Energetic. Fun. Colorful. VERY catchy Musical messages. Cons: Occasionally the dialogue is above my 2-yr. old's head.
I hope this isn't offensive but lighten up folks :) It's a colorful, bouncy, happy, show for tots. TOTS. We're not talking astrophysics here. My 28 month old has already practically memorized all the songs and she knows all the characters by name after watching just a few episodes.
Yes, the plots are paper thin and sometimes the songs don't always fit the message. SO WHAT. Does every single show on TV (or every show your kid watches) have to teach a lesson? If this is the one show my kid watches that's not super high on substance but simply good happy fun - SO BE IT. It makes her smile and sing and that puts a smile on my face.
Pros: Makes me want to leave for work early Cons: Makes me want to drive into a wall
Disturbing, really. The costumes, the voices, the "skits." Really, this show makes me glad to have DVR- I'll record something like the Zaboomafu and let my toddler check that out during breakfast. What really stinks is they changed the time- to the only time we watch TV- 6:30AM. Please make the stupid songs in my head go away! Oh Yeah!
Pros: It fills up 30 minutes of air time for disneys producers. Cons: Too many to list.
When I first watched the doodlebops with my kids, I asked myself if Disney was serious when they put it on the air. I figured they gave them a shot and would soon pull it off since it was poorly produced, used the worst stage set, and even attempted to make people think that they were doing live concerts when it's obvious that they were using an audience from a different show. The props are bad, the singing is marginal, the special effects are so bad they are amusing. One of the cast members is so light in the loafers it's distracting. Reading some of the reviews I see a lot of grandparents giving this show a five because their grandkids love it. In all honesty, I think the kids are looking at the show in the same confusion that we do. How do we know what young kids think. So from an educated adult perspective, I will agree with all of the others that gave this show the deserved one star rating.
Great show for little ones! by ktaarud ,Sep 16 '05
Pros: Great show that teaches and entertains Cons: As the adult, you'll start humming the songs too!
My daycare kids love this show! They all beg to watch the Doodlebops so they can dance to the music. One little boy acts out Moe by dumping toys on his head and says "Refreshing"! The music is much better than Barney's music. Each day the show has a lesson to teach the kids such as counting to 10 when you get angry. They even put the lessons to music so the children can remember the lesson easier.
Creativity meets musical theatre by shellectro ,Jun 08 '05
Pros: Set design; Songs and lyrics are jazzy and vivacious!!! Cons: None
I absolutely adored this children's show. It's use of color, music, and situational comedy is captivating and engaging for young children. I have been a teacher of lower elementary for 13 years and I feel that the writers and producer have a hit with the "Doodlebops."
Here's My Review of the Doodlebops. Hey, I Think They're Perfect for Disney Programming. Bravo! by puricelli ,Nov 08 '05
Pros: Great vocals, perfect interaction with each other on stage. They're obviously experienced. Cons: Rooney's lovely baritone voice may not fit in a kids performance. Eliminate jumps and leaps.
I happen to LOVE watching the Doodlebops and I find
them not only refreshing, but a great tribute to Canada's
leg-up on the U.S.'s performing arts talent.
The costumes are certainly unique and I take issue with one
reviewer who claims Rooney Doodle (Chad McNamara) is openly gay. Where does this reviewer get her info on that subject
(I've read information negating the claim that Chad is gay) and why is it the reviewer's business? The reviewer should stick to what he/she sees on t.v.
If one has a good eye for talent this is the place to be: These 3 main characters are working very hard and I'm proud
of their display of obvious talent. Great job Doodlebops!
I'm a little worried that because of their individual skills, one or more of the 3 main characters may soon leave the cast for greener pastures. It's also obvious that they're Canadian,..they may need to water that down for an
international audience.
Pros: Great for young kids to learn new things Cons: Cant think of one
I'm a mom of 2 young children, my son loves the Doodlebops, he gets upset when we miss the show because we had things to do. At 1st he didn't like it and neither did I. But now we cant wait for the CD and DVD to come out later this month. All because of the Doodlebops he's learning to speak better and sound out his words, he loves the music so much and gets very excited about them. I do not see anything wrong with them at all, they have very bright and colorful costumes and thats what kids look for when watching TV so its great for young kids.
Pros: There are funny plots and great characters that have good voices and songs. Cons: Everytime they show a song where they perform it is with the same audience members.
I think that the doodlebops are very interesting and FUN to watch! Moe is my favorite! The show appeals to me (13) my sister (18) and my parents. I think the randomness makes it funny to watch and the characters are older too which makes it good for adults and teens too. My parents said it's like the BANANA SPLITS (note sp.) I've never seen that show but I think it's kind of like PeeWee's Playhouse.
The Teletubbies Meet the B-52s? by lissyfitch ,Aug 02 '05
Pros: They're harmless and cute. My son claims that Dee-Dee is funny. Cons: Do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do! The theme song is stuck in my head.
I initially found them a tad creepy, but my son immediately fell in love with them. They're colorful and happy and they sing songs and "rock out" in a way that a three year-old can appreciate. He remembers their songs and sings them all day long.
Pros: Children are learning while watching the Doodlebops. Cons: The Doodlebops are goofy looking. they like the most.
My almost 2 year daughter absolutely loves the Doodlebops. I can't make it through one day without her begging to watch them. Do I think they are a little goofy? Yep, sure do, but what does it matter, she loves them and while watching them, she is learning to sing, dance, count, share, play and rhyme. She learns about colors, shapes, senses and feelings. Do you suggest a better show for your children to watch (that they are truly interested in)that teaches them so much?????
Pros: I am spending more time outdoors! Cons: The FINGERS! What is with the characters' fingers?
Terrible, simply terrible! I've read other reviews that talk about how their children like it so it's ok, but in my household the adults pick the programming and this show is definitely off of the list! I do appreciate the first review talking about Rooney being "lispy" and "effeminate" because it bothers me too. He's confusing to little kids not to mention down right irritating for adults. This is a huge disappointment for Disney to think that this was a good show to put into their lineup.
Pros: Has humor is good for children Cons: Umm I cant think of anything bad about those
I strongly believe Doodlebops is a very happy and positive role model for children. They also express all kinds of feelings even fear. Is important kids have the view of the real world and full of humor.
I Love The DoodleBops!!!!!!! by asj554 ,Aug 10 '05
Pros: Moe and Deedee are great and Mazz i learn alot from them Cons: Roonney is always asking questions which is good but still he creeps me out
I Love the Doodlebops there the best show for the morning My Favorite is Moe I LOVE MOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deedee is cool but roonney is kind of creepy askin all those questions. Moe rocks i love it when he hides from deedee and roonney and when he pulls the rope and water splashes on him. Don't pull the rope!!!!!!! U ROC MOE!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Silly, non-violent fun for the toddler set. Cons: too few episodes, lack of new songs and live show in the States.
A good, silly show that my 27 month old daughter has liked for the last 5 months. I am a little more than disturbed by some of the reviewer's comments about the "lisp" issue. What is confusing to me is that adults are condemning the way someone speaks. Seems a bit homophobic to me. What message does that send? The DB's are not my favorite show. I love Charlie and Lola and so does my daughter. I wish it were longer and played more often. However, I do think that a show like the DB's has its place, and currently it is in my daughter's lineup of shows.
Pros: Very moral and so entertaining. Cons: Some not so open minded parents can't get past their own issues with the costumes.
The Doodlebops are fantastic. I have an extensive group of friends and family who all agree the Doodlebops blow the wiggles away. They are energetic and bright and clearly talented.
Pros: great music and dance and they teach helpful things for kids to learn Cons: they are dressed like aliens
My 2 year old loves the show. I know they look weird, but they do have cute music and they dancing is great. They teach a lot throughout the show. All I ever hear over here is Bops Mommy, Bops.
Doodlebops Need to Die! by idontmind1963 ,Jun 04 '05
Pros: I really don't find any redeeming qualities in this show. It's just plain annoying. Cons: See above. I wouldn't subject my child to this show, ever again.
I was sort of excited about the Doodlebops because my Son (16 mos) loves music. I tried to like it - sincerely I did. What I have found is that the actors over-act, are campy and prance around like a bunch of High School theater majors. The costumes are ugly and over-done. And the "Where's Mo?" sequence is a direct rip-off from The Wiggles' "Where's Jeff?" skit. I know there is a huge Christian backlash against this show as they think the characters "act gay". Well, I'm not sure what "acting gay" means, but the characters are obnoxious.
Skip this show - it's a LOSER! The characters are *so* annoying. Tune into The Wiggles or Out of The Box if your kids like music and dancing.
Pros: Too many to list Cons: The talking moose is kinda creepy....
My little sister who is 1 1/2 years old LOVES the Doodlebops. Though she can't understand them yet, she sees the hillarious characters moving, singing, and dancing. She likes to dance with them! Using other reveiws for insipiration:The Doodlebops are for KIDS, not adults, so if your kids like them, let em watch it!!! If you as a parent dont like them, go do the laundry while your kid watches it. Th Doodlebops are positive characters for anybody. I am 11 years old and I absolutly love them!! I go to my room and watch them!! I sing and dance along too!! Please and thank you!!! Also please forgive me if I may have sounded rude.....
Sorry about The Doodlebops! by nrrrdymama ,Nov 22 '05
Pros: The range of music that they try to represent is cool... in theory. Cons: Poorly produced, terrible songs, creepy characters, no chemistry between the actors.
As a Canadian, I feel moved to apologize for whatever madness caused my country to unleash The Doodlebops. My 2-year-old daughter is enthralled, and her father, a musician, is horrified. I get the sense that after a taping the actors take off their wigs and sit before the mirrors saying, "I could have been someone, man! What happened to me?" The only comfort they must take is that no one will ever recognize them without the make-up. Have you noticed that the "concert footage" is actually spliced? The songs are performed on a sound-stage and the audience is edited in. So sad. I wrote to the CBC, our national network that produced this nightmare, and asked them what on earth they were thinking, but they stand by their programming. Even though it gives children the illusion that your instruments keep playing even when you walk away from them!
Pros: My 2 yr old LOVES this show! It's great for a 1/2 hour of me time! Cons: The cat needs therapy and the songs stay with me ALL day!!!!
I have to say that I've read a lot of the comments and everyone has a point (good and bad alike). There are some kinks that need to be worked out with this show. My 2 year old son loves it and watches it daily. I also have 3 other children ages 9, 8, & 6 and even they will sit with their baby brother and sing or dance along. I think if you like the Wiggles or Pee-Wee's Playhouse (I noticed for some people this was a good choice of shows) you really can't have much to say bad about the Doodlebops. I think the Bops are a nice escape from the horrible times we live in. It shows children (and adults for that matter) that there can be more in the world than bombings in subways and war in Iraq. There is love in this world. Maybe we should all live a bit more like the Doodlebops!
doodlebops are awesome by thecannon316 ,Nov 10 '05
Pros: We all can cut a rug to their wicked rhymes and kicking beats. Cons: i've seen each episode more than a few times...
My 18 month old daughter loves shaking her butt to the Doodlebops' music. She gets really excited when they are looking for Moe and calls out his name around our house. I love the "Get on the Bus" dance as well as their crazy costumes. But what I can't stand are the people that have a problem w/Rooney. I hope that you realize that you sound as bigoted as the racists during the Civil Rights movement. It is inexcusable to me that in this day and age children are being subjected to such unnecessary close-mindedness. My husband and I were very pleased to see that Disney has diversity in their network and shame on those who cannot deal w/it. Keep on rocking, Doodlebops
The only thing that counts is the music! by klipschonkyo ,Jul 11 '05
Pros: The singing quality and the music. Cons: The fingers....hmmmmm
Children's show singers that can actually sing! Think about how bad the singing is on most children's TV shows like Barney, The Wiggles, The Big Comfy Couch. I primarily listen to rock music and I'm glad there is at least one show I can watch with my 2 year old daughter and not think in my head about how BAD the singing is. It does rip off other shows but I believe it takes the best parts of the other shows, rolls those parts together and adds a little of their own originality for a great show! Obviously if Disney is spending 1 hour of their airtime every day Monday through Friday on this show they must think the same as I do.
BOTTOM LINE:If you want your child to get up and dance to get some actual exercise while watching TV then this show is for your kid!!!
Pros: THE SONGS ARE GREAT! THEY GIVE GREAT MEANINGS. ALSO THE COSTUMES ARE EXTREMELY COLORFUL,! Cons: SILLY. PLAIN SILLY, BUT MY DAUGHTER LOVES THEM AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!!
YES, THE DOODLEBOPS SEEM VERY STRANGE FOR ADULTS OF COURSE, BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THIS IS A SHOW FOR KIDS, NOT ADULTS! AN ADULT CAN SAY ALL THEY WANT HOW STUPID AND WEIRD LOOKING THEY ARE, BUT THIS IS FOR YOUNG VIEWERS, NOT ADULTS, EVEN THOUGH I LOVE WATCHING THEM! I GET A KICK OUT OF THEM ACTUALLY. I WOULD RATHER WATCH THEM INSTEAD OF BARNEY OR THE WIGGLES. MY DTR LOVES THE DOODLEBOPS!!I AM GLAD DISNEY GOT THEM TO THE USA!
Pros: Great singers/dancers, good content, wild and fun costumes, I think helps broaden creativity!! Cons: No CD/DVD available. No shows touring the US at this time.
I agree this is a KIDS show and the content is fitting. What do their costumes have to do with if the kids should watch it or not? My 2 1/2 yr old and I love The Doodlebops. She watches it every morning before we leave for our day. She sings and dances during the whole thing. Yells out, "Don't pull the rope!" Nothing at all wrong with this show. It was created for the little ones with all the flashy colors and outrageous set & costumes. Kids love stuff like that!! Can't wait for the CD/DVD/show to come to my town!!
Lighten up on the Doodlebops! by jgreeno ,Sep 20 '06
Pros: Encourages activity, fun songs, keeps my child's attention. Cons: Bad story lines, weird wigs, and songs you can't get out of your head.
I have read some fairly negative reviews of the Doodlebops. I agree that some of the stories are lame, and I can't get those songs out of my head, but this is a kids show. I personally can't stand any of the kids shows after one episode. My 21 month old daughter, however, LOVES The Doodlebops. When she wakes up in the morning, the firs thing she says is "Wobbily Whoopsie" (one of their songs). She will actually sit and watch the Doodlebops for the entire show, but leaves Dora or the Wiggles after two minutes. The biggest positive to me as a mom is that she is learning from it. Her favorite episode is "Jumping Judy" and she absolutely loves to jump now. She jumps and laughs everywhere she goes, and I love that it has encouraged her to be active! She gets to watch one episode a day and she looks forward to it. Lighten up parents! It's just a kids show! There's a lot worse things they could be watching!
Pros: they keep nathaniel dancing and learning. Cons: i don't have anything bad to say about them
they doodle bops are great there show is funny and really cute. my son looks forward to watching the doodle bops more then anything. he runs around saying moe! moe! moe! we are even members of the fan club.
I am luke warm about the show but my 2yo loves it. It is part of our morning routine. The songs are kinda catchy and DeeDee has a great voice. To those who have a problem with male charecters "gay" manner of speech I say get over it. Your kid will not turn gay by watching this show, just like they wont turn Australian from watching The Wiggles.
The one problem I do have with the show is the rapid camera change MTV style editing. I think I heard once that ADD could be linked to this style of film editing.
