Pros: Acting, direction, special effects Cons: None
I just watched a "Sneak Preview" of "The Last Mimzy" on a rare Sunday afternoon "sneak". I had seen trailers for the film but really didn't know much about it. While it may or may not be "this generations' 'E.T.'", it certainly is an excellent film ...
Pros: Great acting by the child stars. Cons: Thin plot, lackluster performance by Hutton.
Magic; I mean the real stuff and not the slight-of-hand craft practiced by earth bound magicians has always been the subject of wonder. Children, as the ledged goes, believe in true magic, adults do not. The 2007 movie The Last Mimzy would ...
Pros: Unique plotline, futuristic, objects/toys come alive, complex equations Cons: Objects talk in musical noise, nudity, child uses bad language, cursing, more in review
I watched The Last Mimzy tonight prior to allowing my child to watch it and am glad I did! Maybe I am a prude but sheesh! Naked men, children using bad language, keeping secrets about danger from parents, and more are in this movie. It is rated PG ...
Pros: the kids, great special effects, have to work to figure out how things fit together Cons: some major inconsistencies and loose ends, horrible science teacher character, gets very preachy
Mankind is on its last legs. Pollution has slowly destroyed the planet and caused all sorts of illness and mutation. In a last ditch effort to save the Earth and its inhabitants, a scientist has built a series of mimzy devices to send back into the past ...
Pros: engrossing at the time Cons: unnecessary Homeland Security storyline, numerous plot holes
About two months ago, my wife and I bought a house. Since then, we've been up to our ears in bags, boxes and bubble wrap. When we haven't been sorting, packing and ferrying our belongings from one place to another, we've been working extra hours to build ...
Pros: Positive story line, fabulous art direction/special effect usage, complicated characters, many layers of meaning. Cons: Well, Timothy Hutton. I never did like him much, although he did fine here.
Ahhhh....I was so pleased with this movie. It is intelligent. It is well written. It is inventive. The characters are creatively developed and unique. The children, although adorable, are not cute objects, but real people with complicated desires and ...
Pros: Suspenseful Cons: Anti-Government; encourages hiding truth from parents; emphasis on Buddism/TM; singles living together.
This review may contain spoilers. I did not read the short story it was based upon. I took my pre-teen daughter and her mother to see this at a sneek preview on 3/18/07. Summary: Humanity from the future is in genetic trouble because of ...
Pros: Very little violence, lots of imagination and special effects, great acting by the 2 children Cons: a bit scary for kids in a few parts, but overall not bad at all.
We went to a sneak preview of The Last Mimzy today, it is not scheduled to come out for about another week. I took my 4 boys ages 2,5,8 and 10. My husband also came along. Our entire family loved it!!! There is plenty to keep kids interested as well as ...
Pros: It ended. Cons: Weak story lacking cohesion, terrible acting, camera work
Following in the overrated E.T.'s footsteps, the "Last Mimzy" tries to conjure up a magical space-age children's tale that becomes very odd. Two kids find a strange space-age capsule on the beach and discover its powers. Complete with a stuffed ...
Pros: May be good for kids/family night. Cons: Boring. H0-Hum special effects. Very slow.
My better half and I were bored, so we rented a couple of DVDs. I made the mistake of choosing THE LAST MIMZY. From the previews I thought it might be interesting. Other child actor movies I've seen can be cute and sometimes very well acted. I ...
Pros: Story for everyone to watch together Cons: Maybe too cutesy for the old grumps
Great story and special effects. Started movie having no idea of story and I was fascinated with the rabbit "mimzy". I often thought my own live rabbits talked to me but then that is just adult anthropomorphic wishes. The tie in with Lewis Carrol's ...
Pros: some good acting by the children Cons: everything else
Boy did I have high expectations for this movie. The first trailer I saw for this movie made me say to the person next to me (don't worry I knew him )"Man I wanna see this movie!" So it was the Tuesday before it opened that I went to the sneak preview. ...
"Rainn Wilson was Inadequately used in "The Last Mimzy" by zenmachado, ,Oct 27 '07
Pros: Charming Magic - Cute Children - Admirable Message Cons: The horridly wrong usage of delightful classical melodies... poor job in reflecting the required feeling.
Despite its amicable intentions and its child enticing charm, "The Last Mimzy" doubtlessly fails at making a wholly entertaining film. As a rental it may satisfy in a modest manner, for it holds charming attributes. Yet, if you're searching for a child film that holds stellar stuff.. this magic movie will disappoint.
"The Last Mimzy" is the tale of two children that gain the ability to foster their special talents, after having found a mysterious container full of toys. Soon these kids, their parents, plus their teacher are plunged into a tale of an exploration of facets from a world of which they have little knowledge of. An adventure that allowed them to experience situations, filled with magical aspects.
This film is a production that told a provocative story, which at its end leaves you unfulfilled. The acting was disjointed. Leaving plenty of room for believability. The story lacks credibility, any humor relief, and fun in the adventure.
Also, the soundtrack was wrongly produced. It failed to aid in setting the proper mood..
At its conclusion, the commendable message and the charming magic, is lost inside of the uninteresting continuum.
