Pros: Humorous, great action scenes, good acting and excellent script and special and visual effects Cons: None to me
Summary: I can't believe that I'm the first to review this film on Epinions. Granted, there were several big movies opening today plus it is Christmas day, but I thought there would be fans of the comic book series who would be first in line to review the ... read more

Pros: Highly entertaining, looks great, over the top and ridiculous in every way Cons: Can get too weird, just never really makes sense
Summary: After Sin City came out in 2005 Frank Miller became well known and 300 certainly elevated his status. And while we all still wait patiently for the sequels of Sin City Frank Miller gave us the Spirit to entertain us while we wait. Its another ... read more

Pros: Eva Mendes is quite possibly the yummiest woman on earth. Cons: Is it satire? Is it comedy? Is it action? I can't tell.
Summary: First off, I really like Frank Miller's work. "The Dark Knight Returns" is about the greatest graphic novel ever made, inspiring dozens of imitators, and "Sin City" the movie was like brilliant avant-garde artwork--so stunning in its uniqueness that you ... read more

Pros: Good idea, visually stunning Cons: the movie's many good actors are handcuffed by their uninteresting characters
Summary: Sadly, it has taken only three movies for the graphic novel adaptation genre to need redefinition. We discovered it with the marvelous Sin City, a movie so stunningly enjoyable that it made us (and movie execs, apparently) think that a new genre was ... read more

Summary: The Spirit is based on the 1940's comic by Will Eisner. It tells of a policeman, Denny Cole, (Gabriel Macht) who was killed in the line of duty and has returned from the dead to continue protecting the citizens of "Central City." The ... read more

Pros: Doesn't take itself so seriously; great special effects and imagery; stylishly dazzling Cons: A lot of people will not understand Miller's intention; the plot is thin and silly
Summary: To understand The Spirit, one has to understand the mindset of the man in the director’s chair… Frank Miller. His 1986 graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is hailed as one of the most influential pieces of ... read more

Pros: Visually stunning; kept my attention throughout Cons: Flat characters; some pretty bad dialogue
Summary: NOTE: I have no familiarity with the comic on which this is based so this review is strictly of its merits as a film, not an adaptation.I finally saw The Spirit today after looking forward to it for weeks, and I left the theater ... read more

Pros: The movie is highly stylized with beautiful people and famous actors. Cons: Boring endless monologue by the Spirit about his city. Action scenes poorly choreographed.
Summary: I usually enjoy comic based movies, and was surprised that The Spirit was not doing as well over the holiday weekend as other movies. This did not however deter me from going to see it. I was sorely disappointed and felt cheated out of ... read more

Pros: I've got nothing good to say here Cons: Thin plot, one dimensional characters
Summary: The premise sounds promising - A dead cop is brought back to life and fights the bad guy to protect the citizens of the city - however, this movie fall very very flat. Very flat. There are no plot surprises or twists, the characters are one dimensional,
