Pros: Excellent acting and a different view of the same story as "Charade" Cons: A little slow at times
Summary: "The Truth About Charlie" is that it is a pretty decent movie that fails in one major way: it's not as good as the original. I always doubt the wisdom of re-making classics. No one has tackled "Casablanca" nor "Citizen Kane" or "Gone With the Wind." ... read more

Pros: Everything! Cons: nada zilch zip
Summary: The Truth About Charlie sits at 3 stars over-all here on good ol' Epinions. Bah I say! 5 stars all the way, without reservation. Sometimes a movie is so fun that you just have to shout I love this movie!
Charlie has been ... read more

Pros: has its moments Cons: doesn't have enough of them
Summary: The Truth About Charlie is an odd little duck. One part homage to the French New Wave and two parts remake of the Stanley Donen classic Charade (aka the best Hitchcock film that Hitchcock never made), what winds up on the screen is a ... read more

Pros: Tak Fujimoto directing photography wonderfully yet again. Cons: Wahlberg and Newton are too lightweight to make us believe -- anything.
Summary: Yet another sudden film religion has cropped up, and this time it's the 1963 flick Charade, a romantic comedy thriller starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. I haven't seen the film, but have read many reviews where supposedly clever critics say in ... read more

Pros: None Cons: The entire movie
Summary: Ever watched a movie the first 5 minutes and you realize you have made a huge mistake? I don't know if I can say I was fortunate enough that I caught this sneek preview the past weekend. This movie originally caught my interest after catching a glimpse ... read more

Pros: Thandie Newton and Tim Robbins. The script ain't bad either. Cons: The other characters and the directors.
Summary: I saw the original Charade when I was in high school and was mesmerized by the relationship between Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. At that time, in 1963, New Wave cinema was in vogue and while I tried with movies like "Jules and Jim" and "It's my life", ... read more

Pros: I have none. Cons: No storyline, character development; pointless waste of time.
Summary: How I lost an hour and 44 minutes of my life.
I heard an ad on the TV for The Truth About Charlie. I immediately recognized it as a remake of Charade by the fact that the line in the ad was taken verbatim from the ... read more

Pros: Thandie Newton, Christine Boisson, Ted Levine, a number Nouvelle Vague veterans. A strong musical score. Cons: Academic overlay of Nouvelle Vague technique, and the digital camera's lack of depth. Mark Wahlberg.
Summary: When David Thomson, in his Biographical Dictionary of Film, called him "the most versatile director in America today," Jonathan Demme was 49, and had just directed SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1992) and PHILADELPHIA (1993). Since then, with such earnest but ... read more

Pros: Excellent and innovative remake ... Cons: ...
Summary: This movie doesn't hide the fact that it is a remake of the 1963 Audrey Hepburn - Cary Grant classic, CHARADE. It is an excellent remake (unlike the word-for-word remake of Psycho), updating the action sensibly (including how the bad guy manages to ... read more

Pros: I honestly can't think of many. The french cop was pretty sexy. That's it. Cons: A full fledged disaster that wasted close to two hours of my precious time.
Summary: Saw this for the first time last night on the tube. Horrific ! Bad acting by Marky Mark as well as Thandie Who(?). I have been a fan of most of Demme's work but this was a man made disaster. "Charade" on the other hand was about as delightful as a film
