I have used discount stores monopods before and have damaged a great lens when it broke. This Manfrotto 681 Monopod has my investment in its grasp and it remains secure.

Excellent, well designed, solid, fast deploying platform for action photography. Superior build quality. Those seeking a light, compact monopod should look elsewhere, however.
