This BMW has expensive maintenance, but it is a blast to drive, handles all conditions well and I think it's a better overall car than a Subaru Outback.

Skip the first year of production. Stay away from the 2003 model made in 2002. 2004 and up is the way to go, but later 2003 is probably OK too.

This car had constant problems. I spent too much time in the repair shop there was ever a time that SOMETHING wasn't broken. Cheaply made. Lots of road noise.

if you must have the BMW cache. But for the money, it is not a pure sports car. It makes too many concessions to luxury and comfort adding weight.

This car still has the original engine and manual transmission. Nothing has ever broken on it that I didn't break myself.  . . .
