Get a wii and wait until the next generation comes out.  Hopefully at that time all the bugs will be gone and there will be game options available.

The Xbox 360 arcade is a great product and this package is great (fairly cheap) for people new to the console because it gives you almost everything a starter needs.

The PSP Go is a great device for those who don't mind downloading games. Not all PSP games are available for download though.
