Pros: Gets clothing extra clean, quiet operation, conserves water, looks sleek, stackable
Cons: Needs special detergent, squeaks when stacked, expensive

Summary: It began with a tragedy. After less than eight years of mediocre to good service, my top of the line GE Profile top loading washing machine gave up the ghost, dying quietly with a tub full of cold, soapy water and dripping sweatpants. After I closed ... read more

Pros: Uses very little soap and water. Cleans great!
Cons: It's heavy and it can't dance.

Summary: I retired early and my wife still works so I do most of the laundry. I've had a Maytag top loader for years and even though it was dependable, it did not seem to get our clothes clean. You could forget washing anything large (like a king size ... read more

Pros: seemed to have good repair record
Cons: Broken 5 months after purchase...authorized repair was a no show....

Summary: Bought a washer dryer pair from Lowes with extended warranty 5 months ago. The washer (GHW9150) went on the fritz last night - stopped spinning and draining. Called whirlpool and was given a service appt the next day... The usual "we'll send someone ... read more

Pros: Well-constructed, efficient, extremely quiet, nice design, faster spin means less drying time
Cons: More expensive, deeper dimension than top-loader

Summary: Our old Kenmore washer and dryer were going bad about the same time. I researched front-loaders for their better water and electricity efficiency and we had some experience with them (although smaller) in other countries. I was a bit concerned about ... read more

Pros: Energy efficient, large capacity, lots of cycles and options, great spin cycle, quiet during wash.
Cons: Very tall on pedestal, loud spin, expensive.

Summary: My old Whirlpool (16 years old) started to leave rust stains on our clothes. Since I have a big family, I figured it had served me well. So, I decided to buy a Kenmore Front Loading washing machine. What a heap of junk!! After six days, the thing ... read more

  • Great washer without any problems

    Aug 19 '05
Pros: super energy efficient, makes clothes super clean...
Cons: some vibration, long wash times

Summary: One thing I really love about this washer is that it is fun to watch and fun to listen to some of the noises it makes. Forexample when it enters the high spin cycle it sounds like an turbine whirring up to speed and it just sounds cool. The pluses ... read more

  • So Quiet I had to see if it was still running - it was!!!

    Jul 20 '05
Pros: Quite, efficient, $150 rebate from local electric utility
Cons: Tall with pedestal. Deeper than the previous washer. Takes a lot of real estate.

Summary: Our old Whirlpool top loader provided reliable almost trouble free services for 19 years. It did have a habit of burning through a belts (2) smoking up the whole house in the process. Upon replacing the second belt, the repair technician said that ... read more

    Cons: None

Summary: I must preface this discussion with the fact that I am a chemical engineer - so latest, greatest technology always impresses me. And if I can also do something that helps the environment and save me money at the same time - I'm for it! The Whirlpool ... read more

Pros: Large Capacity Less detergent Energy and water savings clean clothes
    Cons: Expensive

Summary: We bought this washer and the dryer (dryer review yet to come) March 10th, after our 6 year old top loader died. We'd got them when it was us and one child. Now, we've got 4 children. I'd been doing laundry every day for our family of 6. We started ... read more

  • Biggest waste of money ever

    Mar 11 '09
Pros: It fits a ton of laundry in, when it works.
Cons: There is no warm rinse, only a cold rinse.
F11 error all the time now.

Summary: We researched a lot when my old washer died, since we wanted one that would have a better motor.  (We have a large family and do a lot of laundry.)  We decided on a Whirlpool front loader for it's large capacity and the sealed motor.

    Pros: Good unit
    Cons: Some what noisy
