Pros: Some humorous scenes Cons: Predictable, bad script, repetitious
To be real truthful, I've never been a fan of Adam Sandler movies which, in general, I have found to be too juvenile. There were a couple of exceptions ("Anger Management", "Punch Drunk Love") but those movies weren't big hits for him. The premise for ...

Pros: funny, well-intended Cons: long, rushing in where angels fear to tread, Sandler's accent irritates many
One of these days, there's going to be a college course called The Films of Adam Sandler. It's not that Sandler is any genius, or that his "works" rank up there with those of Chaplin. But in his own modest way, Adam Sandler is building a body of work ...

Pros: cool cameos, Dave Matthews Cons: stupid, crass, vulgar, offensive
Adam Sandler co-writes another seriously bad movie with Dont Mess With The Zohan. Be prepared for the typical Sandler set, full of cameo appearances (a fairly large cameo by Dave Matthews was surprising), and lame bathroom humour. When I ...

Pros: Coulda' been good. Cons: Icky.
Dont Mess With The Zohan is what I call an IMPTE movie, the letters standing for Immature Male Pre-Teen Erotica movie, the acronym sounding like the word empty, which, of artistic value, it is. When males are growing up, ...

Pros: Has some funny moments. Cons: Some toilet humor, not for kids.
For the first time in a long time we actually had a weekend where we did not have a whole lot plans. One of my son’s friends called and asked if my son could go to a movie with them. They had wanted to go see: You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, the new ...

Pros: Entertaining, some really funny moments. Cons: Some really immature attempts at humor, plot kind of silly.
A bunch of my friends wanted to go see Adam Sandlers movie You Don't Mess with the Zohan. There were other movies that I wanted to see, but I was out voted. So I went. Adam Sandler plays an Israeli fighter of Palastenian terorists. He is ...

Pros: For much of the film, Sandler sheds his tiresome man/child image...and it's funny Cons: For much of the film, he returns to that tired old man/child bit.
I have to admit that Im not a huge Adam Sandler fan. I get very tired of his mentally-challenged man/child bit (THE WATERBOY is a prime example of this work that does NOT work for me). Yet the previews for YOU DONT MESS WITH THE ZOHAN were ...

Pros: Sandler Cons: Goofy Plot
It's been many years since I found myself loving a recent Adam Sandler flick. Don't get me wrong, I love his work. I can ardently quote Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore word for word if necessary, heck, I'm sure I can throw in a few quotes from Big Daddy ...

Pros: It ended. Cons: It was made.
Every so often a film comes along that says "Yep, these people have hit rock bottom." This is not one of those movies. No, this is one of those thankfully rare "There was no bottom to hit so we just kept falling" films. Directed by Dennis Dugan ...

Pros: Clever premise; Notable cameos Cons: Ethnic humor may get lost on some; Gross sex jokes; Not much of a plot
For all the criticism directed at Adam Sandler and his oft-critically-blasted movies, I give the man props for attempting to bring funny to a most un-funny subject. That subject being the seemingly endless Israeli-Palestinean conflict that's been ...

Pros: Funny. Sandlerish. Cons: Suggestive sexual themes. Out of everybody's comfort zone.
Before you put plunk money down on tickets to Zohan, repeat 3 times "Adam Sandler co-wrote this movie". There is no doubt Zohan has some of the funniest visuals of the summer. There is no doubt that Zohanisms will pop up in the vernacular. There is also ...

Pros: Funny, lots of guest appearances Cons: Lots of the same humor
The premise it that Adam Sandler's character is a terrorist who wished to leave his country and come to the US to be a hair stylist. Of course, when he tells his family this, they laugh and tell him there is no way he can do this. So, he fakes his ...

Move over Borat, here comes Zohan!
by linglingdog ,Jun 17 '08
Pros: Hysterically funny. Cons: Not for kids, should be R rated due to content.
We didn't know what we were walking into with our two children, (ages 12 & 14 years) and thank goodness we didn't. My husband and I laughed so hard and so much, it was completely unexpected and out of control. But this is Adam Sandler, and we've seen racy movies of this type before, most recently "Borat." After the movie ended, we had to explain some of the parts to our children, which created an opportunity to explain mature subjects. ("Suggested" sex scenes with the grandmas in the beauty salon a little much for my 14 year old daughter.)
However, there will always be movies like this that are meant to poke fun at certain groups. And, that is exactly what "Zohan" was all about--fun!
In retrospect, I would not take a child to this movie. Due to sensitive and suggestive material, it is not suitable for teens under 16 years of age, or possibly older. This movie should be rated R.
