Pros: Stealth Technology. LAN setup made easy. Very easy to set up and use. Cons: Take a few percent more resources than I'd like.
Author's Note:If the Internet had a White Hat Award for good guys--uh, good people--Zone Labs would get my vote. I do volunteer work with senior citizens, teaching computers and repairing their machines. While, like all of us, they absolu ...

Pros: Good firewall, strong range of features. Cons: better support of alternative web browsers would be very helpful.
A good software firewall is practically a necessity for any computer user these days. It's for this reason that every Linux distribution, MacOS X, and Windows XP all include firewalls that range from basic to being able to protect a business network. ...

Pros: Touted by many as a good firewall program Cons: Experienced by one (this one) as a disaster
I've been a user of ZoneAlarm's free home version for some time. Recently I saw ZoneAlarm Pro 4 on sale for $24.95 and decided to give it a try. So far, it's been one crisis after another. While the free version is extremely simple to set up and ...

The best one out there!
by dnp4466000 ,Dec 16 '03
Pros: Strong PC protection against hackers and malicious programs (worms, trojan horse, etc.) Cons: Some corporate applications require to shut down ZoneAlarm
This software firewall suite had problems in previous versions but starting version 4.0 and current version 4.5 this is probably the best protection and stability for personal firewall software market.
Pro version allows you quite flexible control over firewall configuration.
For advanced users this is probably the best package (Pro) you can get for money.
The only issue is some problems working with corporate software packages (such as Oracle SQL*Plus with server installed on a corporate network and UltraEdit with accessing files over ftp).
Other than that for personal/home office use this is the great software and highly recommended.
It is works better and faster than Norton Internet Security package and other software on the market today.

Dont Buy It!
by redcatdragon ,Jan 17 '04
Pros: The original free version is worth it Cons: It blackmails you if you let the subscription expire
I bought the current version a year ago and now the program is holding my program control hostage - I can no longer control program access to the internet and they dont support the product unless you buy a subscription. I will have to revert to the free version to gain control again. What a rip-off! The subscription cost is more expensive than the cost to purchase!

Decent firewall for average internet user.
by cphtphil ,Jan 24 '04
Pros: Trustworthy, dependable; tons of options; e-mail scanning and ad blocking. Cons: Tons of options can be burdensome, but overshadowed by general ease of use.
I used their free version for the longest time before upgrading to their Pro version. I've been pleased with it. Installation was easy and it is user friendly. The numerous options for program access settings make it very convenient. Privacy and ad-blocking features are a plus as well as ID lock to protect sensitive personal information. E-mail scanning and watching for mass mailing worms gives a true sense of safety and security. I have not had to contact support for anything. It automatically checks for updates. And their online information labs have proven useful when you are alerted about a potential threat; you can research the threat, your options, and even trace the source of the potential threat.
