| Niteyes's Full Review: 1998 Ford Explorer 4WD |
I love my 1998 Ford Explorer XLT.
We bought the Explorer because it accommodated both me and my husband. I wanted room for the kids and more cargo space and him for the fishing, hunting and hauling.
I handles and drives very well. It is not too big and not too small. It fits well for any driver. I am 5 foot 2 and I have no problem driving, my husband is 6 foot 4 and he loves it as well. Even my grandma likes it, she can get in out out fairly well because of the straps at the top to hold on to when getting in and out.
My husband uses it for fishing hunting, he pulls a fishing boat with it at ease. I use it to drive to work everyday and taking the kids to school and practice. (Petite women: beware of straight skirts getting in and out of the vehicle, I have split a few already)
The cargo area is quite large. The back seats fold down to allow for more cargo space for those big shopping days.
It rides very smooth on pavement, can get a little bouncy on rough roads. Also, all the hype about rolling, I do not believe it to be true, I drive quite fast (sometimes) and around corners and have never felt like it would tip.
We have had a couple of recalls, nothing major, back windshield wiper motor, just little things.
I think it is one of my best investments and I believe my husband thinks the same way.
