MOTORCYCLE ROAD RACINGJan 2, 2001 Write an essay on this topic.As a wife to an avid motorcycle roadracer, I wanted to let everyone know about this sport. While it is scary ( these riders are racing at speeds well over 150mph) I'd rather he race on track than on street. My husband has been racing motorcycles since he was 12 years old. He went from dirt bikes to roadracing cafe bikes on asphalt tracks. The comorodity and friendships you have in this sport are like no other. This is a review of our experiences with Great Lakes Road Racing Association (GLRRA). This sport gives all those who like to ride fast and have that adrenaline rush, a safe and fun way to do it. From the small 125/250 classes to the big 1000cc bikes you have it all in the world of racing motorcycles. Now GLRRA has added dirt bike racing to. I cant wait for the new season to begin. From just starting out as an amateur to going expert pro, the help, friendship and fun you have with your fellow racers is unsurpassable. While they are your competition on the track, I have seen these racers (male and female) lend or tear apart their own bikes to help get each other back out on the track. I have been around other types of racing circuits and never experienced what its like with the roadracing circuit. While on track you are required to wear full gear, Leather suit, gloves, boots,support backbrace, some are made in leathers(for safety, you do fall down occasionally) and approved helmet. There are safety rules for how your bike is set up( must be safety wired and no leaks). I for one have gotten really good at safety wiring fast after a repair to a bike. There are always medical crews on seen when the bikes are on the track. Thats an added plus over riding on the street.
