SUV? Car? SUV? Car? Decisions, Decisions!Aug 20 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Ever since I saw the Jeep Cherokee for the first time, I had thoughts and dreams of owning a SUV. These increased with the popularity of the vehicle and that other motor car companies joined in the club by producing their own. While I did not trust the Jeep brand, I do trust Toyota, Nissan, and other more reliable motor companies. Because of this, I have taken a more serious look at the chances of my purchasing an SUV because of my increasing needs of my growing family. With my children becoming more active in school and sports I have a greater need to haul not only additional children besides my own plus sports equipment. So, earlier this year, I started adding a list of possible SUV's as vehicle replacements for my 1989 Toyota Camry. Then all of a sudden, gas prices jumped dramatically. From the 69 cents a gallon which was being charged here for regular unleaded back when I came here in March 1999, the prices increased almost a dollar more a gallon. This proved to be something that took my SUV shopping thoughts to a grinding halt. After all, it was bad enough that vehicles and car insurance cost a tremendous amount of money, but to add onto that gas prices? That was way too much. Therefore, I was at a crossroads as to determining which would be better for my needs, be it an SUV, a mini or full sized Van, or a larger automobile. After along debate, I decided that I would have to eliminate most of my dreams of SUV ownership. Even now that gas prices have been going lower for the past month, the cost of driving a larger SUV would put a tremendous drain on my budget. Therefore, I decided that I would have to lower my expectations and look for an automobile or a smaller SUV instead. |
