Nissan - don't trust the dealer!

Apr 13 '00

I and my wife had a bad experience with Nissan (Nissan 112 of Patchogue, Long Island, NY). We learned a valuable lesson; never trust the dealer! We turned in one leased car to start our next lease. When we did, the dealer said he would arrange for the 'final inspection' at the showroom and that we didn't have to be there. He also said that the car was in excellent condition. Then we received a bill from Nissan for $1000 for damages and 'wear & tear"! We learned that there was a mix-up between the dealer and Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp (from whom the actual lease is). The sad part is that neither will accept responsibility and that I'm stuck with the bill because I signed the lease (not the dealer). Since I wasn't there when the car was inspected I forfeited my rights to dispute the 'final inspection'. To say the least I lost all respect for the dealer (Nissan 112 of Patchogue, Long Island, NY). And if there was a way for me to cancel my current lease I would, just for the sake of making a point!

So... buyer beware!
