Have you ridden before?

I've been riding for about 20 yrs. and have come to a decision. If you're 18 yrs. old and half lit this can be fun and exciting! However, if you're in your 30s and sober, you're glad you learned while you were young and drunk! I still ride today, have an old Harley, and some others. Its too late for me! I've been bitten by the riding bug for which there is no cure. If you are thinking of your first or second ride, you need a trusted mechanic to do a pre-buy inspection on the bike. Even if you are a motorhead on cars, there are many things on a bike that are different. There are people out there who can make a junker sound and look great, but this will go away within a few days. Think about the yr. the bike is, and shop around. Todays market is hot on Harley-Davidson, to be sure, there are many things that have changed since the old days, but an older Evo or 883 can have many of the same problems as an OLDER bike. don't pay $5000.00 for an old ironhead sportster if the local dealer has a 5 yr. old 883 for $6000.00. It may cost you $2000.00 to make the older bike run good enough to sell for $4000.00! The best advice is to get someone who knows to inspect the bike.
As for safety equipment, do what makes you feel the best. If you fall down, there are broken bones and roadrash (skinned places) no matter what!Happy motoring!
