The Danger's of Being Lazy..May 14 '00 Write an essay on this topic.After spending way to much time browsing this topic... I've seen one very notable trend on the automatic side. Its easier... Well, congradulations, yes, with an Automatic transmission driving is easier. Yes you CAN sit there and eat, talk on the phone, look at a map, look at a book... all this while your car takes care of the shifting for you... and all of this while you are suppossed to be DRIVING!!! I must say, I find automatics not only boring, I find them dangerous. They placate the driver, putting them in a position where they don't need to drive anymore... This is leading to a trend of more and more devices and things in cars to distract the driver because they don't need to focus on driving anymore. GPS systems, televisions, phones, whats this I hear, a DVD in cars now? But I digress. A person in an automatic car is just not nearly as engaged with what is going on. Yes it is easier, never mind that they don't have the control, the gas milage, the reliability... its easier. never mind that they arn't driving. oh well, I guess some people just enjoy being lazy.  |
