When I first saw the dark navy blue sedan on the lot and sat down in the back seat I was sold; although being the negotiator that I am I didn't let on. I sat in the back seat because on long trips my wife and take turns driving and I'll sit in the back with our 10-year old we'll read, sleep, do homework, play games and otherwise engage in unnecessary horseplay. In short, if it didn't have plenty of leg room, foot room, elbow room, head and neck room and every other kind then the car got x'ed off my list in short order. This one had ample space in all directions and, as subjective as it sounds, it just sat well. There is certainly something to be said for the comfort of an easy chair and that is the appropriate comparison.
The spunky 3.8L 6-cylinder engine has all the power of the V-8s without the horrendous gas consumption. This car's 4-speed automatic transmission glides smoothly through its paces even on a recent trip through the mountains of Tennessee and South Carolina. The trunk space is generous and was plenty for the week's trip our family took this summer--including our teenage daughter's plethora of bags: shoes, cosmetics etc (a significant volume of necessities). I understand that the car includes reduced force air-bags so I guess it won't even muss up her hair if the unthinkable happens.
An observation of which I made note after purchasing the LeSabre was that most other drivers of identical vehicles are age-eligible for Social Security. Now I'm thinking, do only older people drive this car and if so, why? Why wouldn't people with fewer miles on them enjoy the roominess, the sound system, the reliability, (for the benefit of our daughter) the lighted make-up mirrors? Who knows.
I do know that while I'm not ready to join the Geritol set just yet, I enjoy a comfortable ride (front OR back seat), favorable insurance rates (okay with me if the insurance companies think it's "an older person's car") and great, dependable transportation.
