With the increasing popularity of SUV's in todays marketplace, there are more and more accidents involving them. I believe this is because people think just because they can go quicker they can stop quicker. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! As a matter of fact it just the opposite.
Many people would never have an accident if they were driving standard two wheel drive cars. Most of the SUV vehicle accidents are because they are being driven too fast and drivers loose control on ice or packed snow. I own a Jeep and I know it's difficult not to drive fast when it seems so easy and everyone else is just poking along.
It's hard to resist the impulse to step on it and get around the slow poke but don't. Maintain a safe distance and stay with the traffic. Remember that 4 wheel drive doesn't mean 4 wheel stop. A SUV takes just as long to stop as a car or maybe more time if it is heavier. Remember your physics class from high school and an action causing an equal reaction. It still applies.
Take your time, you'll get there but you'll insure that you'll get there in one piece. And remember watch those 4 wheel drive vehicles, they still think that 4WD = 4W Stop.
