The first thing you should do is get a tune up before winter comes and another one just before the summer months. The best way to keep your car running smoothly is to make sure you check your fluids like the oil, power steering, automatic transmission fluid, check the water level in your radiator, and make sure you fill your tank with gas. Keep a tire gauge handy to make sure you have the right amount of air in your tires too much or too little can shorten the life of your tires. If you drive an older model or classic car add octane booster and use the mid grade
gasoline. The premium fuel can make it smoke . Personally I found using the mid grade gas, adding octane booster, or lead substitute is vital for maintaining your classic or 8 cylinder. If you have tried to maintain it and are still having problems, do a little more trouble shooting.Check the wires, the battery, Keep an emergency road kit in your trunk with tools. If you must bring it to a mechanic shop do some research, and get a written estimate before they do anything to your car. I been doing basic maintenance for over 10 years.
