Go Go Gadget!!

Written: May 23 '00
Pros:100 miles per gallon, 20 miles per hour
Cons:State may have restrictions on riding

Things I will cover in this review:
1.) What? A Go-Ped?
2.) So, how fast does this thing really go?
3.) Do I need one?

1.) Yes, you heard me right, a Go-Ped. Translation: A neat little scooter that can actually be used for transportation. It’s hard to believe, but they have been around for quite awhile now. I’ve had mine for about a year, and am happy to say it still runs pretty much like new. Trust me, you’ll like these.

Being around for so long, I’m always surprised at how many people have never heard of Go-Peds before. They cost around 400 to 450 dollars, and you most likely have to buy on from a specialty dealer. You can look up a dealer near you at the official website, http://www.go-ped.com. After giving a couple of my friends a ride, they have actually gone out and purchased one for themselves!

2.) Well believe it or not these little machines can get up to 20 miles per hour. They run on a two-stroke engine, which means it consumes gas and oil at the same time. Don’t worry, the oil is about a dollar a tank. Speaking of tanks, the gas tank holds about a quarter gallon.

Per quarter gallon, this nifty little scooter gets 25 miles! Yes, do the math, and this baby gets 100 miles to the gallon! Doesn’t that sound nice? It sure did to me. Some other specifications of the Go-Ped include foldable handle bars, so it can fit very snugly into even the smallest trunks.

Investigating my local Go-Ped dealer, I found out that there is a full line of products available to tweak your Go-Ped. With just a couple tweaks, you can get your little Go-Ped running around 40 miles per hour. I don’t know about you, but this is a little fast for a 20 pound scooter. :)

3.) If you have 450 dollars lying around, yes! I saved away cash a little at a time for mine, and am completely satisfied with my purchase. I use it around everyday, whether it be for a little fresh air or to run errands. If a Go-Ped sounds interesting to you, I definitely recommend checking them out, it’s a ton of fun!

Afternote: Some towns or states have restrictions regarding scooters similar to the Go-Ped. Be sure to check with your local police to see if riding Go-Peds on the street is legal.
