Helmet trash

Dec 02 '00

So ya think all this safety stuff really works. Ever wonder why a stock car driver has crossover belts instead of the silly shoulder belt that's in a car, or that the helmet is strapped to the cage to prevent the head from moving; there's a lot of weight in a helmet applied to the upper neck when in motion. Maybe they know something we don't. BTW, no helmet; per manufacture spec, will survive impacts greater then 30 mph. When was the last time you drove 30mph on a highway, hoping that if you do go down a cager will not run over you because they were riding your butt. Ask a fighter pilot about the testing done on their helmets, he might just start to laugh, or ask a cop why he is not wearing a full face helmet; the so called best of helmets, but just a little beanie. That chin guard has been know to break a few necks as it hits the ground. Do they know something we don't. Next they, and yourself will vote for seatbelts on a bike. Don't get me wrong, I do wear one during the winter; warmth, and even on bad rainy days, but I hate it in the summer, makes one head hotter then hell on the asphalt. Don't get hooked on what others think is safe for ya. Not all things sold out there works like it should. Be A "SMART" Rider, learn to read the cagers around you. That in itself will keep you alive.
