I am the proud owner of a '97 Honda Civic LX, my wife drives a '98 Accord EX. We are the American Honda family that the Honda Corporation just dreams about... I am kind of surprised we do not get Xmas letters and birthday cards from them as well!
The Civic LX I own has been problem free and a joy to own. The car holds its value extremely well so the depreciation will not kill you on resale. Speaking of value... power windows, locks, tilt wheel, all the bells and whistles you would expect on a much pricier ride. A laughable feature on my maroon red LX is the stereo. I still have the stock AM/FM radio. No tape deck, no CD. I know, I know... I am a freak but that is the way the car came into my life. Honda really should know better than to do that to us consumers! But that leads to a problem. I have the Honda alarm installed which is operated through the radio. If I choose to change the stereo... the alarm will not work. You must buy a overpriced Honda stereo to allow your existing Honda alarm to work. Hmmm... not a good deal there! Overall I love the car and expect it to last as long as I need it.
