| scooleen's Full Review: Yakima Mako |
I bought the Mako saddles for two reasons. I have two 16.5 foot sea kayaks that I needed to put on my Subaru Forester. Each kayak weighs about 55 pounds, which made me shy away from the stacker models.
My experience in dealing with these saddles has been very positive. Setting these guys up is very easy, done in under fifteen minutes. They hold the weight of the kayaks admirably, even under rough road conditions.
The directions that came with the saddles are pretty easy to read, and make sense. The straps are all heavy duty, with protective rubber over the buckles so they dont scratch up your hull at all.
There isn't too much I have to say negatively about the Mako saddle system. My only concern is the material the saddles are made of: PLASTIC. I wonder how this material will stand up over several years of use, or I wonder, does Yakima consider these disposable?
