Buy/Sell A Car-ONLINE?May 29 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I am currently in the market for a new car. Or possibly a used car. I'd like to buy from a dealership but I may find a gem waiting in someone's driveway. It would be nice if I could drive ten minutes and find what I'm looking for. Or perhaps I'll have to drive a few hours to a nearby state. One thing is for sure: I never knew I had so many options available to me. Since I am the first to admit that I know nothing about cars, I'll also concede that I could be taken very easily. To make matters worse I'm far away from those who I've trusted all my life to help me make such decisions. And then I found out about Kelly Blue Book at www.kbb.com. It's safe to assume that most readers know about the famous Kelly Blue Book that car dealerships, banks and other lending institutions rely heavily on when it comes to used cars. But their website has so much more information. Note: kbb.com states on most of their pages that Kelly Blue Book is intended for use in the U.S. only. Buying A Car Click a link and decide whether you want to purchase a new or used car. The site has links that will give maps and websites of nearby dealers after you enter your zip code. You can even get price quotes from dealerships in your area with no obligation. **New Cars** This section is devoted to cars that will be at the dealers in the near future. Currently, pictures and descriptions of automobiles due out in spring and the 2001 models expected in the summer. **Used Cars** Several links will allow you to see available used automobiles for sale in your area by private owners and/or dealerships. The equipment and prices are shown as well as a link to email dealerships to confirm the status. The Lemon Check allows you to enter the VIN of an automobile and it will check the history of the car. There is so much information to be found within this area of the site, including but not limited to, maintainence and repair, car history, warranties, and financing. Selling A Car Can't decide whether to trade in your used car or sell it outright? kbb.com will calculate what your car is worth given the information you provide. I plugged in the make, model, year, history, equipment, interior/exterior condition, engine and transmission condition, etc. and found out that my car was worth more than I thought. The site advises which alternative would give you a better deal. They offer five different ways (sites) to sell your car including an auction site. This site appears to be one of the best resources for obtaining information on buying or selling a car on the internet. As opposed to automobile websites, kbb.com is not biased. I saw no banner ads while digging through the site. If you're in the market, I'd say give this one a try! www.kbb.com |
