I like this product because it comes in different applications specific for the car you drive. Since I drive a Volkswagon, they have a specific type of rack that fits very nicely onto my car. Once this rack is on your car it will not come off unless you want it to. It is amazingly sturdy.
The attachments for the base racks are very easy to install and very stylish. Its aluminum material and finish is perfect to blend in with any color of your car and can withstand corrosion. It is also very impact resistant and can withstand a few bumps without it affecting the rack. I say only a few bumps because that is about as far as I have abused it. So I assume that it is very strong.
With its low profile design, it gives a minimal drag on the road. If you add the feiring onto it then it diminishes the wind resistance even further. So this does not affect your cars performance much.
The base rack weighs only a couple of pounds and can carry up to 120lbs of load.I should know I have had tons of gear up on the rack and it still remains very sturdy. Also the 6 snowboard carrier is only about 10 dollars more than the 4 snowboard carrier so this makes it worth the extra money.
This rack is perfect for those people who wants quick and easy installation of a rack system with no hassles. Compared to Yakima, Thule
offers a base rack that mounts on the built in roof base of your CAR YEAR MODELS 98-UP. When you are not using the snowboard attachment just remove it, this should take you no less than 10 minutes. Do not have the place you bought this from install it for you, installation of the rack is very simple so don't waste the money.
50% of the material used to manufacture this product is made from recycled aluminum and hard plastic. I dont know if that helps the product, but it couldnt hurt the environment.
